Knew WHO they meant in FJ, just at "clue zero" as to the WHAT they were after.

Re: 2012-11-26 (Monday Nov 26) Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)
I was just hoping to ask opus if he could record the DJ clue that talks about Alpha Tau Omega, a Facebook friend of mine is an Alpha Tau and very much into the organization (half his Facebook posts are about that, the other half is about flags. ). I noticed he's in Arkansas, but, interestingly, looking at jeopardy.com's viewing times, all the ones in Arkansas either air earlier than my 4:30 showing or at the same time, so by the time I saw it, he missed it if he wasn't watching.

Nice game and liked that she went TDD when she needed to.

Best episode of the season? Best episode of the season. Big ballsy bets all around. All three players are hung like horses.
FJ was a bit of a let down, though, a clear "know it or you don't" question... and they didn't know it.

Re: 2012-11-26 (Monday Nov 26) Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)
Charles Addams at $200 was very undervalued, IMO.
Got none of the Charleses. Also, never heard "inexorable" before.
1-Word #1 Hits seemed upside down. I had never heard of any of the first 3 songs (nor had I even heard of Tears for Fears), and "Physical" seemed by far the most recognizable. (I knew "Paparazzi" entirely because Todd in the Shadows reviewed it. I've been mentioning him a lot, haven't I?)
DJ! was brutal for me. O-fer on Pretenders or Julia Roberts. Only got 4 clues right overall, 3 of which were $400s.
"P" Countries was a total embarrasment for me. Almost blurted out Paraguay on $400 and just locked up completely. I just couldn't think of any other "P" Countries at all, and kept going "Oh yeah, duh" after every right answer.
Add to that another total derp moment: "Oh, the something-or-other of the seven gables. Come on, I know this. Place of the seven gables? Tower? World? Penguin?"
Yeah, I got nothing on this FJ! Wasn't aware of any famous homes in Wisconsin. Joke answer: "What is the International House of Pancakes?"

I'd have said "tanuki".Austin Powers wrote:Best episode of the season? Best episode of the season. Big ballsy bets all around. All three players are hung like horses.

Got this final rather quickly because I had visited Fallingwater (in Pennsylvania) last year.

I agree that was the best episode of the season, except for that beautiful Chicago category. Carl Sandburg, duh.
Onto more pleasant matters: great players, great questions & what bets! I guessed the correct answer because I figured Lloyd = Welsh name but I only know about three of his homes. GSN ran an old What's My Line & F L Wright was the mystery guest. Crotchety at that point in his life.

Ha ha, it'd almost be worth it to pop over to the "official" site to read the whining about the First Lady.
Charles Addams? No one?!?!
FJ was an instaget, but I wasn't at all surprised that it was a TS.
Good game all around and a nice start to the week.

Wow, what a great, breathtaking game.
As others have said, *extremely* ballsy DJ bets... took my breath away. Did great on the "P" country questions, as well as the Julia Roberts movie listings.
Felt a gut punch at the Solzhenitsyn question; have read the book and seen the movie, and kept on yelling at the screen, "One! One! Not 'A'! One!"
FJ was an Instaget for me; some years ago, me and the missus visited Taliesin West in Arizona a number of years ago. Gorgeous place.
Again, a great game and the DJ bets were incredible. Wow.

Pay attention, children. That is how you use a Daily Double.
Congratulations to Lucas for wagering conservatively enough to win a triple stumper. But the Dear Wife and I — having a couple of times visited the Frank Lloyd Wright museum in Oak Park, the site of his longtime home and studio — were perplexed that the contestant from that fair village didn't nail the FJ! clue, even after having rolled through most of the Chicago category.

I have never, ever heard of that house, nor of that bard, so I had no shot at FJ. I said Fallingwater just to say something. I am a bit surprised so many people here got it right.
Good game well played otherwise.

Spotted "Charles" AND "cartoonist" AND "macabre?" No way.TenPoundHammer wrote:Charles Addams at $200 was very undervalued, IMO.
For FJ I said Fallingwater, knowing it was wrong but that it was as close as I was going to get, since I couldn't name another FLW house.

56/60, then deer in the headlights on FJ! I would have wagered a truckload given the category.

I am going to be in company with TPH here. Not necessarily on undervalued, but I hadn't heard of Addams outside of a context with his Addams Family, never would have connected.marpocky wrote:Spotted "Charles" AND "cartoonist" AND "macabre?" Edit: Fixed the ever to never. Plus, if we're going to go with comics named Charles, I would have thought Schulz would be in the 200 spot.

Re: 2012-11-26 (Monday Nov 26) Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)
Not my best Jeopardy! game for playing at home. The "XO" category threw me for quite a loop (I seemed to think it was "EXO" instead, and that messed me up quite a bit), and I skunked the Charles category. The "P" Country wasn't bad (even though I feel like an idiot for blanking on the one that uses the Euro—Portugal)
I liked the appearance by Michelle Obama on the Chicago category. Didn't know she was from there.

I didn't know a THING about Charles Addams.

I suppose if you didn't know the Addams Family was based on a comic in The New yorker, it was a hard clue.
I knew whose house it was, but no chance on getting its name. Said Tennyson just to have something.
