Mon: Jackie Robinson was close to instant.
Tue: Heinz (57 varieties) was instant.
Wed: I got backlash about 15 seconds in.
Thu: I guessed Around the World in 80 Days.
Fri: I was going to guess Philippines, then remembered there was a recent Philippines FJ, so I said Liberia.
I got 161 clues right and 16 clues wrong for the week.

Had Proctor & Gamble Tuesday, would not have guessed that Heinz had 5700 products
Got Wednesday, but only several hours after seeing the clue in the NY Times, so not taking credit.
Did not notice the mustache is gone.

I didn't know that the 57 in "Heinz 57" was shorthand for a slogan used in 1896, or that Heinz existed back in 1896. Nor was I aware that Heinz makes over 5,700 products.

I forgot to check the "got all 5" option, and I can't re-vote (at least on my phone).

I got FJ on Wednesday thinking about reactions to outchanges, but it helped that I've mentally referred to the relevant pet peeve as "backslash backlash." Friday, I figured that 19th century American ships had to do with a country's founding, and Liberia followed naturally.

The journey and Heinz were instant, and Jackie Robinson took a few seconds.

I immediately remembered Bernadette's name, then got distracted as the rest of the clue was read, and said, "What is Lourdes?" when the reading ended. Still counting it.

Monday: Instant get.

Tuesday: Heinz came to me pretty quickly just from thinking of a company that has a number in its name. I didn't think that it was right, but I stuck with it because I had nothing else.

Wednesday: Miraculously, this one just clicked with me right away.

Thursday: I had no idea. I might have gotten this one if the clue had mentioned that it was a French novel, but I just couldn't connect the dots from the information that was in the clue.

Friday: This was another one where there weren't enough hints to enable me to narrow it down. I guessed Libya, thinking of the Barbary wars.

Monday: Who is Lou Gehrig? "Boss" made me think Yankees, even though I knew 1947 was before Steinbrenner.
Tuesday: What is Heinz? I thought 5,700 was a little excessive, but better than 3,100 flavors of ice cream.
Wednesday: What is backpacelash?
Thursday: What is Journey to the Center of the Earth?
Friday: What is Cuba? I was not happy with it but nothing else was coming to mind.

As for Sports Jeopardy!, I watched the first segment of one episode, accidentally closed the player, and didn't care enough to go back and finish.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

I saw the moustache announcement (and saw J!'s spoiling of it on their FB page) but barely paid much notice to it afterwards, as that's how Alex is *supposed* to look now.

I guessed Samoa. I somehow thought it must be in the Pacific, and since the Phillipines was a answer recently, I knew it wasn't that. Never occurred to me that it could be in Africa.

I know nothing about Saints, but a long time about I watched the movie "The Song of Bernadette" on one of the movie channels, and somehow that has stuck with me.

First week under 50% this season...yuck!
Should certainly have gotten Monday...missed the point and said DiMaggio.
P&G was the only consumer company coming to mind that extended to the 19th C....again I kind of missed the point. I have given no thought to the number of products of Heinz one way or the other, but I'm not surprised. John Kerry's money had to come from somewhere...
I do not associate Liberia with palm trees. I was stuck in the Pacific, and I knew the Philippines was recently taken, so I said Fiji. It was that or Japan...Not my happiest moment...
Needed another second for Sure Shot...

Mon.: Willie Shoemaker
Wed.: "riot"
Fri.: The Bahamas

I knew Heinz had more than 57 products, but not 5,700. I gathered that it might be true in terms of acquisitions, but I wasn't sure if Heinz itself had been acquired as part of another company. Guessed right.

I guessed both Jackie Robinson and Liberia but abandoned them both (thought 1947 was too early for Robinson and Liberia was too chestnutty, also didn't associate Liberia with palm trees).

I had no guess on the computer FJ other than jokingly saying shift.

For the coat of arms, I was stuck thinking of some tropical island with everyone else. I started with Fiji and wound up in Cuba.

I have seen all four sports episodes. I did not realize Heinz made that much stuff. I already knew he had shaved, but it is not something I would have noticed anyway.

For the season: 15-10
Longest winning streak: 5
Longest losing streak: 2 (active 1)

5/5: 0
4/5: 1
3/5: 3
2/5 :1
1/5: 0
0/5: 0

I voted last night, but it looks like I accidentally checked that I got Wednesday right and didn't check Thursday, but it was actually the other way around and now the system won't let me change my vote.
