CONTESTANT INTERVIEWS
Alex: Donna Laux, the young lady from Texas, is a marketing director. And, uh, took your first job at the age of 9?
Donna: That's right, Alex. I was a paper girl.
Alex: Oh. How many papers did you have to deliver?
Donna: I had about 45 papers on my route, and I saved the money and used it to finance a trip to Europe when I was 14.
Alex: Good for you.
Alex: Rob Landolfi, you were once in the Peace Corps, and you were once lost at sea. I wanna hear about that.
Rob: I was, while we were out on a, uh, research trip, and our engine died pretty early in the morning--
Alex: Where?
Rob: This is, uh, off the coast of Belize, uh, where we did our Peace Corps service, and luckily, we were able to construct a radio antenna out of some old sandwich wrappers, and signaled home, got a plane out, spotted us, and sent a boat out to get us.
Alex: My gosh, there's a television series there, I think, uh, and, uh, so try and peddle that idea somewhere. A lot of writers will, uh, be happy to deal with it.
Alex: Chris, over to you now. High school college prep counselor. A native of New Orleans. Now I've been in on a lot--I've been in a lot of parades. In New Orleans, the great fun is not being in the parade, I think, but watching the parade, and being able to collect what?
Chris: Well, in my case, I-I was very lucky. I got to go down to Mardi Gras right after the Saints won the Super Bowl.
Alex: Oh!
Chris: Um, Drew Brees was King of Bacchus. He was throwing some doubloons with his face on them. I did what I had to do to make sure I got one.
[Laughter]
Alex: Okay. Let's move on, shall we?
