H.B.: Yeah, we've been together, uh, some of us, for more than a decade, some of us closer to, uh, 20 years.
Alex: What position do you play?
H.B.: I play first base. It involves not running around a lot, so that's well in my wheelhouse.
Alex: Yeah. I'm in admiration of you.
Alex: Rob Seidenwurm from San Diego, California. A real-estate attorney who got lucky and spent a year studying in Scotland.
Rob: Yep.
Alex: Where?
Rob: Uh, in St. Andrews.
Alex: I hope you're a golfer.
Rob: I am. I am definitely a golfer.
Alex: And where were you living?
Rob: Well, I was living in the building, uh, just across the street from the 18th green. It was actually my dorm. It's not a dorm anymore, but it's...
Alex: Mm-hmm. And how often did you get out and play?
Rob: Often.
Alex: [Laughs] Okay.
Alex: Kathy Riley is our champion. And your dad had a collection of baseball books, right?
Kathy: Yes, he did.
Alex: And you pleased a museum by donating those books. Which museum?
Kathy: The new Tampa Baseball Museum that's going to open later this year. Um, they needed documentation for major and minor-league teams back to the turn of the last century, and I had books dating back to 1906 that were unobtainables.
Alex: I'm sure they were. That's great.
JEOPARDY! ROUND DAILY DOUBLE

I got FJ right close to he end of the time. I scribbled it and while Franken was clear, the rest was hard to read. I'll take credit for it.
The wording was a little clumsy and spent most of the time stuck on Pygmalion.
A better game than yesterday.

Re: Friday, July 10, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]
Ran "Long" and 2 or 12 Letter Words. Lach Trash on Virginia, Rosetta, "da".
How should I know berry for $200 was blueberry… oh, duh, color, and at that quantity, it ain't gonna be blackberries. Oddly, I was lost on the first 3 but got the bottom 2.
So that's what juniper actually is. The Te Xuan Ze would not be proud of me for missing that one. (10 quatloos to the first person who can tell me what I'm referring to here.)
"Prosper" was entirely over my head.
I thought "united we stand, divided we fall" and Austin were tough for the top box. At the least, I thought Stephen F. Austin is a great deal more obscure than Sam Houston.
Oddly, Ball State was my only get in College People. I knew about it because it's the alma mater of both David Letterman and Garfield creator Jim Davis.
"Big Brother" was super overvalued at $2,000. Amazingly, I ended up 4/5 on the $2,000s that were revealed.
And I get yet another 4/5 on FJ! Stupid Ben-Hur…

This was a pretty good game, but the second round was full of triple stumpers. I had 40 correct responses including five triple stumpers: Virginia, 1814, Western Reserve, Muscat, and da. I also got two missed Daily Doubles: Rosetta and tungsten. Instaget FJ.

Re: Friday, July 10, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]
That first round was annoying. If time had run out without finishing the Nimoy category I might've turned off the TV in disgust. Since Galvatron is probably asking too much of them, I suppose a Sentinel Prime clue will suffice.
Every time I thought Rob was going to run away with the game, he shot off some more toes. Doha? I can forgive missing tungsten since I don't think he understood the category, but how did she miss Rosetta?!?
Instaget FJ.

Yes, but the wording of the clue asked for the name of the creator.grindcore wrote:okay, well, i'll say it...

I too didn't realize the monster spoke, but I thought the answer very obvious.

As I get older, I am starting to appreciate seeing older contestants on J!. This was a well played game by three mature contestants.

Instaget FJ here as I am huge fan of the book. To everyone saying they didn't realize the monster spoke I highly encourage you to read it. It's much different than any movies made about it.

Should "what is salmonberry" have been ruled incorrect for a clue that asked for "this fish"?
I'm curious about how many people knew "Western Reserve University" (I do see two people already mentioned getting it). As a double alum of the school formed by the merger, I knew it easily, but I was surprised it was only a second row clue.

Lach Trash: "Virginia", "1814", "Rosetta"- DD, "Stephen F. Austin", "Western Reserve", "Muscat", "da"
First thought of Pinocchio, but eventually got to Frankenstein. 5/5 FJ week with regular games!

I actually knew of Case Western Reserve (and subsequently got the Lach Trash) primarily because I'm Facebook friends with boardie Drew Scheeler, who went to CWRU.Ryno wrote:As I get older, I am starting to appreciate seeing older contestants on J!. Re: Friday, July 10, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]
I had my personal best week as far as Coryats go, but my worst in FJ's. I got $31,400 with 37 R/ 2 W today, and an average of just over $29,000 with 35 R/ 1 W this week. BDM: I got a lot of $2000 clues this week, so my Coryats were high despite a typical number of gets. I was sure Frankenstein (pronounced Fronk-en-SHTEEN) was slightly older, but the book never occurred to me during the 30 seconds. (It was published in 1818).
I didn't understand what they meant by "formula" when the Daily Double was revealed. Of course W = wolfram = tungsten = very common Jeopardy clue. I checked to see if "ferrous phosphate" was acceptable, and it is.
