Curious how you arrived at No Doubt. For me, it was always in the back of my head that they formed during high school in the 80s. I was banking on people thinking of them as a pure 90s band.

The other ones I considered were Faith No More, Rollins Band, and Black Flag (well, and Nirvana and RHCP, but there was no way I was going to put either of those). I didn't think of REM until this afternoon.
I thought Black Flag was too obvious, so I went with a slightly less obvious punk band. Don't ask me why, but early '80s punk is an island in the sea of my ignorance of popular music.

A sincere thanks to you for bringing this up. I had been considering saying something (since I noticed right after I submitted that I had picked, you know, an Irish band), but I wasn't sure if Armandillo had just decided to overlook it or something.

I entered this pretty early Monday morning, which explains my U2 gaffe. My first choice was Yes...who, as I looked up afterwards, is not only not American (they're British), but they also didn't fit the year requirement, as they were formed in 1968. The main reason I switched from them to Bono and Co., funnily enough, is that I weren't sure they would be exactly considered a rock band.

I honestly didn't realize from the wording that you were looking for his solo output. Good thing I didn't pull out a Blind Faith song  had I been restricted to his solo stuff, I'd probably have gone for The Core off of Slowhand, so no blood no foul

I considered three songs from Unplugged: "Malted Milk," "Alberta" and "Before You Accuse Me." Good to see two of those went unused.

I failed in recalling the song I wanted to use with "I Can't Stand It", so knowing for sure the Heaven one would be the sheep, I went for the one with my mom's name instead of my incorrect prediction of second sheep "I Shot the Sheriff."

I may be matched on the upcoming Batman villain, but no way it goes three or higher.
