Episode title: "All Things Being Eagle"

Playing the precall game off the FJ! category of RECEIVERS I thought of Jerry Rice, Art Monk and Tim Brown. That helped a lot when I saw the clue as I locked in the correct response. I had remembered that Jerry Rice passed Art Monk for career receptions, so that put the Washington player on my radar as a possible in the category.

The clue narrowing it to the NFC East nicely limited the teams to consider and I had no Cowboy, Eagle or Giant who seemed to be a better option.

What I did not need to hear was Eric bringing up a certain Cowboy "push-off" receiver during the post game chat as #88's name always elicits cussing.

Jaime surprised me being in position to take the title as I pulled the trap door on him early in MOVIE TAGLINES.

500: 1976: The coach is waiting for his next beer. The pitcher is waiting for her first bra. The team is waiting for a miracle. Consider the possibilities.

What is A League of Their Own?

[Whoosh!]

The last DD that Jaime found had his lead at 10250 to 10000 to 1250 with just a 500 clue remaining. He bet 250 and got it right. Justin got the last clue to keep Jaime in the lead.

Dan was hilarious in getting after the players for not being able to identify Sugar Ray Leonard in a photo from the WIDE WORLD OF SHORTS category that had images of boxers. South Africa in the wording seemed to throw them off.

Dan also earlier seemed surprised when they failed to identify the partner of Christopher Dean. (Jayne Torvill)

5 wins is a great accomplishment and Eric is only the 3rd to do it on Sports J!

I got Sugar Ray, but I did spend a few seconds trying to remember a South African boxer, but the only ones I knew were the two white heavyweights from the 80s.

I knew who FJ was going for but could not pull his name.

Dan has hinted at a end of season TOC, but nothing solid.

Congrats, Eric!!!!

Too close for comfort for Eric! I could see that Jaime was beating him to the buzzer, and thought Eric might be done after the golf category, but he kept his cool.

Jaime and I must be similar in age because he got quite a few that I knew.

Like Mark, I also figured out Art Monk from the fact that Jerry Rice beat his record, and it was when I lived near San Francisco.

I don't think I've had a phone call with my dad in the last two months that didn't involve a reference to Art Monk. I think the reaction says it all haha. Horrible wager, but I assumed it was fantasy football related and recent since, as the theme of the question suggested, all the most prolific receivers played in the last 15 years.

I'm sure Sugar Ray wearing anti-apartheid shorts for a big fight was news back when it happened, but for a J! family question - that seemed like a pretty random red herring. The second I knew I couldn't name a black SA boxer, I just moved on.

For the Jim Harrick/95 UCLA question, that one stuck with me because I could distinctly remember Steve Lavin referencing that team and its title run during his various jaunts through television over the years. Turns out he was an assistant that year and took over for Harrick in 96 when Jim got in NCAA hot water. However, given that the question was phrased "as this man coached the Bruins", I'm pretty surprised they didn't go back and give me credit for it. Obviously the implication was the head coach, but they usually seem to give contestants benefit of the doubt when a question is vaguely worded.

Speaking of NCAA hot water - surprised they left the Larry Brown aside in there for Dan and I's chit chat as that pretty clearly dated the taping of the show. Obviously I would have said "good riddance to that geyser" were this taped today. 8-)

Sorry - lots of thoughts on this one. Really really hard to watch...
