You may want to review the writers' guide when writing your category.

Category submission will probably work the same as it did last year. A player who submits a category that is used in regular play will get a perfect score for that category. Last year, we limited usage to one category per player per week and four categories per player for the entire competition. Even so, please feel free to submit as many categories as you'd like. (I do have access to last year's category submissions if we need to use them, but BoK and I reviewed the submissions, so we may not be able to use them if BoK is playing.)

As a status update, I personally have about 24 categories finished. I have no information about any categories OQ may have written already. Hopefully, (with your help!) we'll have enough categories to run the SHC this year.
