I could not place Bemidji even though it was vaguely familiar because of Fargo.
The Tempest going off "Capitano" only
Hartford
negged with moss
Modigliani
J! aired at 7 as scheduled

I knew Delaware = First State, but that didn't help me any. No preemption.

If I went through a fast food drive-thru in Dover, Delaware, but otherwise did not stop, does that count as having "set foot"?

I feel like, at some point, I knew that Othello title cold but just forgot it. In any event, I couldn't make heads or tails of 'Moro' and missed what should've been a gimme. First bonus clue skunking in a while, too. Bleh. Still cruising along FJ-wise, at least.

Couldn't pull Turow's name in time.
Thought it was moss for some reason, but I'm terrible with anything plant-related, unless it's a gimme like palm or the unchecked growth of kudzu.

No preemption

Interpreted "moro" as dead and guessed The Tempest.
Knew Delaware was The First State. Pretty sure I've never been to any part of Delaware.
Jeopardy! aired as scheduled Friday here, although at least some of my local channels were still airing inauguration coverage at the time.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

Tue - (blank) Spent too long trying to decipher 'moro.' Death/dead might have crossed my mind, but didn't feel right.
Wed - Trenton. Realized what they were going for after Aaron's reveal.)

I'm guessing the TV show? Cause it's not in the movie at all.
The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.

Could not connect the dots Wed., despite figuring it was Constitution related and knowing Delaware was the first state.

As I learned it: “Alice Algae and Freddy Fungus took a 'lichen' to each other and now their marriage is on the rocks (they often grow there) because she’s driving him up a tree (found there too).”

Oddly enough, while I have set foot in 36 state capitals, I don't think I've ever set foot in Dover despite it being the nearest one to me, other than my home state's capital. It's just plain out of the way of anything.

Only got Chernobyl correct, and none of the three extra clues added to the poll.

For the Picasso one, I thought he was too obvious, especially for a FJ. I had a couple guesses in mind, one being Dali, so I went ahead and checked that box as well. Of course, later on I looked up Dali and found out he was only 6 in 1910, so a poor job by me all around.

I don't know if J! was preempted or not. I didn't want to take any chances.

I have in fact set foot in Dover, though it wasn't something I'd planned. Years ago, back when the Nimzo-Indian was the scourge of queen's pawn players, I once traveled with a couple of friends from New York to Virginia for a tournament of no great importance, but one friend (call him Friend One) was a newly-minted driver and wanted to get some road miles under his belt. We made it down unscathed, but on the way back, a red light appeared on Route 13 that, combined with the rain and the arguably excessive speed we were driving at, made it a lucky thing that it was a nice flat truck stopped at the light that arrested our forward motion. As one result though, the next morning we three were in a cab bound for the Dover Greyhound station as our driver gave us a bit of a historical tour taking us back to 1787. At its end, Friend One commented "it's good to be proud of your city", which was not surprising coming from him because when, just after one of my games in the just-completed tournament where, short of time in a tough position, I missed a chance to draw, Friend One told me that (A) I shouldn't feel bad, and (B) he himself had seen the move that I missed.

He was right, though. It's good to be proud of your city.
I'm smart and I want respect.

Wow, 96% get-rate on Chernobyl. And I was patting myself on the back for getting that one, having never heard of any of those towns.

Minnesota was an educated guess being The Land Of 10,000 Lakes.

I'm really going to have to read every Wikipedia entry about Shakespeare if I ever make it on the show.

The TOM for that one was pretty straightforward: The towns sound Russian, especially Lubyanka, which is the name of a famous building in Moscow that housed the Soviet secret police headquarters for many, many years. Three decades gets you to 1986. And an event is called out in the clue; the Chernobyl disaster is probably the biggest event of 1986 - I'd go so far as to say that Chernobyl is Pavlov for "event in 1986". So it doesn't take very long to come up with Chernobyl and feel confident about it.
