It is somewhat easier, and you can go back and write down an answer if you happen to think of it later.

I received my audition invitation email earlier today - June 6th in Los Angeles. I've dreamt of being on Jeopardy! for years, so this will be a great experience regardless of how I do.
Can someone help me find threads here about the auditions - what to expect and how to prepare?
Thanks so much!

I blogged about it - it's a lot of fun. This might give you some idea.
BTW, watching the three players last night after having tried out, I would think they would NOT be selected were they not famous!

Although they make a point of saying, "You won't have time to go back and change answers," if you're sharp and quick, you can. I've changed/filled in after the fact at almost every try out.
After being to 5 in-persons, I've found the in-persons a little more difficult in content. Yet very comparable.
Looks like I got bypassed this year. Bummer.

Good luck!
General rule of thumb: your appearance and actions should demonstrate that you're ready to step onto the Jeopardy! stage. Dress professionally, speak up, don't interrupt, follow directions (most important during the mock game are efficiently using the signaling device**--it's not a buzzer, btw, don't wait to be prompted when it's up to you to pick the next category/amount, and keep things moving), make eye contact, act confidently, show/talk about what's interesting about yourself, don't guess wildly during the mock game.

I'm sure it's been talked about several times, but I'll ask again, as I can't find the answer: how many people take the online tests? Any official numbers or are these estimates?

If I remember correctly, Maggie said that 100,000 take the online test every year, and from that group they invite 4,000 to audition, and from that group 300 are asked to be on the show.

Btw, since they don't disclose how many of the 100,000 achieve scores that they consider audition-worthy (i.e., pass), it's hard to say what the odds are of a test passer getting invited to audition.

Part of what I'd like to see on this board (and specifically in threads like this one) is enough statistics on who takes the test, with what score, and who gets invited, to figure this out on our own.

At at least some auditions they have told people whether they passed the written test.
