The Feb 24 game being Joe Pipp's third and last win. His fourth game is incomplete in the archive, but the $X on his contestant page can be filled in with $20,100.

I have a question about this game and since it is an old game from the Archive, thought I would post it here - http://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_ ... tuary+hall

The 2000 dollar clue for the highlighted category gives Daniel Webster. It looks like they were expecting New Hampshire as the response, and Massachusetts was already used for Sam Adams, however, Webster represented Massachusetts for a much longer period of time than he did NH. Do you guys think that would have been an acceptable response?

I'm only seeing John Winthrop and Samuel Adams as the representatives for Massachusetts in STATUARY HALL, so I would think the clue is pinned enough for Daniel Webster that only one state, NH, is acceptable?

You are right, Mark - his statue there was donated by New Hampshire, so the clue is narrowed down, just might take a little bit extra to process if you are DD hunting in that game and didn't come across Sam Adams for the 800 clue first! The contestants played it in order though, so at that point it was obvious J! was looking for NH. Not the best clue IMHO, but it was a while ago :)

I have met one of the requests and filled in 5/23/02: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=1096

The links for the two Clue Crew clues should be good. Naturally I catch a break with only two CC clues, so there had to be a player with 8W to give me something extra to do.

Hammer: Enjoy the TORRID STORY PROBLEMS. :)

Bamaman and econgator: [spring trapdoor] on COUNTIES $1200

PEOPLE OF THE '80s
$400 - interesting

$800: I went for uppercase A then the rest lowercase since the Archive had it that way by a 4-3 margin over all caps. 2010 is the most recent appearance of it, so it's overdue.

$1200: Not surprised Alex helped her out

$1600: There he is again as a stumper. :) It's the next street up from where I live so I don't have a problem recalling him or Noriega.

$2000: I of course did not need the TOM "slightly slower name" and I don't really see it helping any contestant

This game was also uploaded by pannoni on his Dailymotion page a while back.

Thanks for the new Season 18 game, Mark.

Regarding the archive, I've been wondering why, for the last few years, contestant photos are no longer being uploaded? Season 24 or 25 was the last season to have them.

They were spoiled for me in another thread, but Nippon = Japan is probably the only one I'd have gotten.

Saw the name of Steve Rogitz mentioned in another topic, and came across an interesting error in his game;

http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=5120

In the category "Easy Math" for $100, the answer is not "zero", but "undefined", as any schoolchild knows that you can't divide by zero.

I was going to post a screenshot of the clue to show how "4/7" was rendered such that "x 0" was clearly not part of the denominator (not to mention Alex's reading of "four sevenths" making that extra clear), but that doesn't solve the division by zero issue. Instead let me suggest that the part whose operation is rendered in words ("6^5 divided by 4/7") should be read as a quantity to be calculated before applying the operation rendered as a symbol ("x 0").

Even if you read it as "divided by 4 divided 7", it doesn't matter. Without parentheses, the expression gets evaluated left to right and there is no division by zero.

PEMDAS. It works!
The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.

Someone should clean up the way the clue is entered in the box, then. At present, it's "divided by (quantity)", where said quantity evaluates to zero.

If instead it's just "divided by 4/7, then multiplied by 0", it's fine, but should be presented differently.

Remember with "PEMDAS" that "M" and "D" are on the same "level" (same with "A" and "S"). Thus zero is the correct answer to that clue (when the multiplication and division is done left to right, which is the rule for operations on the same "level").
