Re: 2012 Summer Hiatus Challenge -- Round 5, Day 1
SHAKE IT UP
2: In this book, Mark Twain writes about a family feud at a river bend heavily damaged by the New Madrid earthquake of 1812.
4: Heinrich von Klist's novella “The Earthquake in” this country begins with the main character about to commit suicide in a Santiago prison when the quake hits.
6: Myron Brinig's novel “The Flutter of an Eyelid” ends with this state breaking off of North America in a massive earthquake.
8: The 1755 earthquake off the coast of Lisbon, Portugal disrupts this Voltaire novel and its “best of all possible worlds.”
10: “After the Quake,” Haruki Purakami's collection of short stories published in 2000, deals with the aftermath of the 1995 quake that heavily damaged this Japanese city.
ARD-HAY ATEGORY-CAY
Aucle-Pay takes another stab at Pig Latin. Each correct response will be a Pig Latin version of a word in the clue.
3: When it comes to IPOs, who wouldn't have wanted to be on the ground floor of this company that went public in September 1998?
6: Qusay was Saddam Hussein's younger son; but do you remember this, the name of his elder son?
9: I had to search high and low to find a vinyl copy of this, the second "Best of" compilation from Electric Light Orchestra.
12: If you want to hear the ballad-like, slow sound of Parliament Funkadelic's style, try this third cut off Standing On The Verge Of Getting It On.”
15: This man's alleged "sink-proof" design ultimately failed when the Titanic's near-miss with a 'berg turned into a glancing hit.
