That museum's about one mile from my apartment. Never been there, though. I'm not much of an art person.

Re: Thursday, June 20, 2013 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Having played three times against Colby Burnett, I can say that what often happens during game play is that you focus SO MUCH on your buzzer timing and waiting for the last word of the clue that you don't always think about the wording of the clue itself. So when you watch the game later, it's easy...

Until very recently, I had no idea that the capital of Quebec was Quebec. Talk about confusing. At least I'm able to remember Ottawa is the capital of Canada thanks to their hockey team.

Re: Reretaken Down

TMZ broke the news about Michael Jackson's death, and they turned out to be right. Of course, they also reported that after his seizure, Lil Wayne was near death and on life support and was given last rites, and that turned out to be totally false. Gotta take everything you see on the internet with ...

Haha, I have a rather different opinion of Galveston. To me, it's a run-down, dirty city that looks even worse after the hurricane, studded with ruined buildings left abandoned but still not torn down. And the ocean waters are a nasty grayish-brown that look like something akin to industrial sewage....

Eh. Rather lackluster game all around. Would have liked FJ better if it didn't give the year. It would have been more challenging that way but still quite gettable.

Last line in the book: "But I reckon I got to light out for the territory ahead of the rest, because Aunt Sally she’s going to adopt me and sivilize me, and I can’t stand it. I been there before."

Not impressed with this game at all. I didn't add up all the Lach Trash, but this might have been a game winnable from the fourth podium. Some really awful guesses by the champ. "Internet library"? Yeesh. His butchering of the line from Invictus seemed like a totally wild guess. Guessing a word is d...

Re: Jeopardy Productions should be courting NPH

Anyone calling TPH a lightweight can't have seen the Tonys last night, or read how much he's being credited for the ratings boost. I really think I'd be a terrible host. I'm short and overweight, I have a really nasal voice, and I stutter. Also, I don't like wearing suits. And every time a contesta...

My dad's from Long Island, and everyone else in our family teases him mercilessly over his pronouncing Mary/marry/merry all differently. Also he pronounces "what" as "watt". Long Islanders are weird  And no way could I navigate that traffic circle without crashing. They're pretty much foreign t...

Nah. NPH is a great actor, and he's funny... but those aren't things I would be looking for in a Jeopardy host.

horrible episode to watch and anyone care to enlighten me on how to pronounce Dnepropetrovsk? I always struggle and go with something like duh-nei-per-oh- pet-tro- visk..... Not sure if serious, but... accent on the last syllable. O is pronounced long o only if it is accented; like "ah" otherwise. ...

The Cap'n Crunch whistle was actually pretty famous in some circles. Nerds of the day learned that it emitted a tone of exactly 2600 Hz. Just the tone that AT&T used in itsa long distance routing. Et voila- free long distance. Aww, I was gonna say that, but you beat me to it. And how is Cap'n Crunc...

Yeesh. Sometimes, you wonder how contestants managed to pass all the audition tests. FJ was a cinch for anyone who knows the most basic of Latin or Latin-derived prefixes (or even any Romance language, for that matter). Even if you don't know numbers in Latin, there are still plenty of words in Engl...
