Biden's COVID-19 relief proposal is taking up airtime (on CBS, at least) and killing Jeopardy! for the 7:30 airings in the Eastern time zone.
Looks like regular programming on all 4 networks here in Indy.

Re: Tuesday, January 12, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

If I somehow do make it on the show after all of this, should I put "met Violent J at a furry con" on my card? You’ve actually taken and passed the online test? Have you actually ever interacted with humans before? This would teach you what an incredibly rude thing this is to ask in that way.

All done: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6902 I had no choice but to accept a correction suggestion as I had a "(Alex:" instead of a "(Ken:" which I was bound to do sooner than later. Maybe you can set an autocorrect that automatically changes Alex: to Ken:. Don't forget to include t...

History for $200 felt like MASSIVE negbait for Jackie Kennedy. What was the TOM there? I figured Bay of Pigs = 60s = Jackie. "This ex-First Lady" And to answer your follow-up question, yes it could have been ANY ex-first lady at the time going all the way back to Martha Washington, but Mrs. Rooseve...

Re: Fun with NBC's "The Weakest Link"

Someone who is so clearly the best player is just usually gonna be screwed in that last vote, making this such a dumb show in many respects. That's the part I hate about it (although when someone like Kaya makes it through, I do wonder what the hell the other two were thinking... :)). The overall S...

This is the domain of TPH I've spent four years trying NOT to listen to Trump's voice... Maybe he will spend a couple of weeks as a guest host at Jeopardy. He's got the time, and he has game show experience from over a decade of hosting The Apprentice. I wonder if his habit of repeating adjectives ...

Re: Monday, January 11, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Ken was reading fast, and while that was strange after being used to Alex, it wasn't bad. I know Tanay's background, I'm guessing he was going for anticipation buzzing in at the start instead of reacting to the light. He caught on quick though, and had the result I was expecting to see. He'll be a ...

If I had a nickel for every time I've ridden in a car with my dad or grandfather at the helm and asking, "How many do you think are dead there?" when passing the slew of visible tombstones... It was always good for a family chuckle, "All of them!" With my dad--assassinated by pancreatic cancer in 2...

Re: Fun with ABC's "The Chase" [Spoilers]

I was upset that Kristin didn't go for it when offered the $425,000. If a TOCer won't take this (and have a good chance of succeeding), who will? On top of that, she went for the lower offer and left ~$50k on the table. I've never seen anyone take the lower offer on the GSN version, though the $$ i...

Kristin and James set quite the high bar in The Final Chase, but Ken showed why he’s the GOAT in trying to catch them.
Yeah I figured that number was catchable but he'd have to be either lightning fast or avoid any errors. He handled the first but couldn't hold up the second.

Re: Wednesday, January 6, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

So now we have to come up with another $173,702,885... My personal favorite WWI film is the Pitt/Hopkins starrer Legends of the Fall , which grossed $160.6 million. Adjusted for inflation, that would be over $280 million today. Unclear how much Kubrick's Paths of Glory made but it wasn't a smash hi...

Re: Wednesday, January 6, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Some arguments could probably be made about other films' inclusion. Raiders of the Lost Ark certainly takes place during WW II but is it a WW II movie? Is Die Hard a Christmas movie? Raiders has $389 million so would be 4th on this list. I'm sure there are other similar cases. Raiders takes place p...

Re: Wednesday, January 6, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

For whoever said War Horse, it would seem that with 177 million, it was the highest-grossing WW I film by far when it was released in 2011. As for WW II, Dunkirk indeed seems to be on top. This is just someone's reddit post so I can't claim any particular authority but it seems about right. https://...

How does one get "Carolina" from "Charles"? Maybe via Carolingian and Charlemagne, if one paid attention in high school World History/European History. (Not that I came anywhere close to getting this clue right. Considered Georgia and Louisiana and got stuck. I don't really like the clue, though. F...

It'll be interesting to see how this FJ polls. I would not have predicted the widespread difficulty that's being reported. State name connected to a king. Your first stop has to be England. King's father was executed. Not assassinated. Not slain in battle. Executed. There's only one, right? Charles...

Re: Tuesday, January 5, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I immediately had issue with this clue as I was pretty sure I had always heard that NC/SC were named for the same person. Majority of sources seems to indicate this is Charles I, though there are some others that claim Charles II. Very, very few authoritative looking things (that I've been able to ...

"Quixotic" is pronounced /kwikˈsädik/. Says who? 8-) Given the Spanish pronunciation of Quixote, I pronounce quixotic as “keeh-otic”. Makes a lot more sense that way. [Playing from the archive] I got this FJ! right pretty quickly, but I first had to persuade myself that they weren't going for one of the Carolinas and New York (named for James II, brother of Charles II, who was Duke of York before becoming king). Then I decided that there was no way it could be j...

Can we get a review of the Jeopardy rule set please? I actually don't think Jeopardy ever publicly said anything about this. James tweet carries no official weight in this regard even though I have no doubt he was told this. Most all of the minutiae we know about Jeopardy! rules are reported by con...
