Re: Thursday, November 12, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
The DD3 wager was unusual in that it would have resulted in a wager-to-tie situation no matter what (assuming the round ended when it did). As played, it’s first = second + third. Kate’s only good wagers were 3200 or 3201. (She apparently subscribes to the theories of that other wagering website.) I...

Re: Thursday, November 12, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I got annoyed by the Billy Ray Cyrus clue at first - I went with Old Town Road, as he's featured on it. (Yes, I know Achy Breaky.) Could it have hit #4 at some point on some chart in some country? Possibly. It might be worth knowing “Old Town Road” holds the record for longest stay atop the Billboa...

Random request, but could someone grab a video of the $400 clue in JOHN BROWN for me? Zainab is a dear friend of mine and she’d love to see it

Re: Monday, October 26, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
There was a lot of sloppy writing in today's show — so much so that I actually yelled at the TV at one point BONES, $200: This set of curved bones attaches to the sternum It was clear they were going for ribs, but as soon as Ariel said collarbones, I knew they'd have to accept it. It's a top-row clu...

Re: Learned League 86 - Aug/Sep 2020
It's been a fun ML, and there is something at every level each day. I even like the way the audio clues sound like they are coming over a '48 Packard AM radio (If this isn't intentional, no malice intended :)). Thanks! The sound effect was intentional, but when it comes up again, it'll be toned dow...

Re: Friday, October 2, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Had Moody's instead of S&P, not sure how I would have gotten it without flat remembering which one it was. Moody's doesn't use + and -, and doesn't capitalize beyond the first letter. Not sure why you'd be expected to know or remember that for $400, though — it was a bad clue (Fitch was my first in...

Re: Learned League 86 - Aug/Sep 2020
Relegated to B! How will I ever survive? (I'll spend the offseason waiting to see if the Commissioner has to rejigger the rundle assignments and I end up back in A anyway... in addition to doing 1960s Music and the other two MLs.) Glad you'll be joining us in 1960s Music! Sorry about the relegation...

As one of the smiths, I am obliged to note that registration has opened for the 1960s Music ML. Hopefully people will be challenged and enjoy. I hope this as well! (Looks like Vermonter might be one of the main smiths?) Yes, I am one of the head honchos. Currently we're in the midst of implementing...

Re: Learned League 86 - Aug/Sep 2020
I'd never heard of Five Moons or the three women in that question, but I knew of only one set of famous Native American sisters, with or without a last name; luckily that set had a last name, and it was the correct answer. I'm not surprised to see the low get percentage. (I could name Maria but not...

Had a rare double attempt on Wednesday (MD20): 4. BIGGUS 6. Blind Blake's Southern _____, Blind...

The extended 1980s theme (used for big events like TOC Finals) is one of the all-time great pump-up songs

Re: LL83: Learned League
I had nothing better than isosceles, which I’d only ever seen in the context of triangles Math is my strongest category and this was still an educated guess for me — I figured if you extended the non-parallel sides, you'd get an isosceles triangle. Normally I'll stick 3 on any math question I'm uns...

Re: LL83: Learned League
I started with Irish Car Bomb, but could not imagine what that would have to do with uniforms. Finally went reluctantly to black and tan, as having the Guinness, two ingredients, and the smallest resemblance to some kind of clothing reference. Turned out to be right. I got stuck on the singular "be...
