Re: J! to Tape Without Live Audience

This was definitely the right thing to do. I wonder if they are going to do any kind of screening of players in queue? Speaking of which, how many players do they have in queue? I assume the season isn’t too far from the point where they wrap up production for the season, which would be a good thing...

Re: Monday, March 2, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Bruce played a strong overall game. He likely misunderstood the first DD clue, which is unfortunate but didn’t cost him a runaway. I don’t care what players wager in runaway games. MacKenzie just took her money and ran to the next game. Bruce tried to add to his total. I would probably be more like ...

Re: Thursday, February 27, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

All good things must come to an end. MacKenzie was a fun player to watch and I look forward to her in the TOC. I find it a bit funny that she loses the day she actually spells FJ correctly.

Allison was the biggest star of the game but the final got her, unfortunately,

Re: Wednesday, February 26, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

When someone has a runaway, it doesn’t really matter me what they wager. MacKenzie earned the right to bet whatever she wishes by destroying the competition during the J and DJ rounds. She is obviously not adverse to risk given that she goes big on DD. She does have some Buzzy in her in that way. He...

Re: Monday, February 24, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I knew coming here that people were going to hate MacKenzie’s wager and there is no doubt that it was far from optimal. That said, if it is a category she loves and she wants to see if she can secure a huge win, she has every right to throw away the calculator and go for broke. She has shown to be s...

Re: Friday, February 21, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Always nice when the games are close and you know the FJ. It has helped MacKenzie build up a huge total because she is being forced to bet big to secure the wins. Missing a clue to fall into second only to jump right back in to take the lead. Not that it mattered in the end. Part of me felt bad for ...

Re: Thursday, February 20, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

That was one bad spelling - she did get lucky that the bad spelling was still phonetically correct. Wow.

She once again came back from a big deficit but the leader certainly helped out with the negs. Her 4-day total is impressive but you may as well clinch the TOC spot on Friday.

Re: Wednesday, February 19, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Sports is one of the few categories where I can honestly say I have a high success rate whenever it comes up in FJ. I missed the one from a few weeks ago about the boxing rules... so I am relieved that I am not on a 2-question losing streak. I often wonder about contestants who are crushed in games ...

Re: Friday, February 14, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

It would have been hard to fault Terry, who was obviously nervous, if he went small on DD2 to try to preserve the lead but wow. Even though many would say that was the optimal play, it still takes a lot of guts to do that when your trivia game has been “off” throughout the game. He definitely has th...

Re: Thursday, January 30, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

The avoidance of sports categories continues on Jeopardy. Of course, when Alex gives the less than a minute to go line, one of the remaining non-sports clues is Sarah needing to read off a long-winded clue that took up much of that minute.

Re: Tuesday, January 21, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

As an unapologetic Alanis Morissette fan, I was rooting for her red-headed sister to take this game.

Dennis’ knack of pulling out victories from the jaws of defeat is fun in its own way. The way he selects categories is not so fun.

Re: Monday, January 20, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Traci here -- I am in fact good at the "fun stuff" I guess? I'm also good at the non-fun stuff. :) And yes, that DD wager haunts me to this day. You played extremely well and I am not even sure what an optimal wager would have been with that DD. You opted to protect the lead which forces Dennis to ...

Re: What's in store for the 3 Jeopardy giants after GOAT?

Brad seemed to be out of his league. The game has passed him by. He loses for the first time ever and suddenly the game has passed him by? I respectfully disagree. I tend to doubt that Brad has suddenly lost it, as well. He didn’t play his best in this competition but he would still be a favorite t...

Re: What's in store for the 3 Jeopardy giants after GOAT?

Personally, enough already with the special tournaments. GOAT was wonderful. Let's bask in its beauty for a while. The biggest thing one has to worry about is ABC seeing the success of this competition and wanting to expand on it in short order. I don’t think they will but there is no doubt in my m...

Re: Thursday, January 16, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Veronica could have just walked away with the easiest $13,000 she will ever make but decided to go for it in FJ. I am not sure how I would play this personally if I was in this situation. I am really curious if she would have gone with $12K+ if she was all alone. Can’t help but feel bad for Priscill...

What happened to my post? It was a major spoiler prior to it airing in the US, so I removed it. Now that it has aired, you are welcome to re-post it. The entire thread is marked "spoiler." We've learned that James's strategy is very effective at knocking out middle-aged women from Dubuque, but it i...

Re: GOAT Tournament Day 4 (1/14/20) Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Great tournament. I remember commenting that it would be “funny” if James, with his unreal FJ history, would end up losing this thing by missing a FJ. And to lose on Shakespeare, which is the same topic that Emma ended his incredible run on. Given what I have seen on Twitter, James’ banter towards B...

Re: GOAT Tournament Day 4 (1/14/20) Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I don't understand Ken betting 0 in a wheelhouse category (Shakespeare). It was no secret what James was going to bet. Why should Ken bet? He couldn't catch James. Bet zero and hope he gets it wrong. James was "in control of his fate" - he can amass about 122K points, while Ken can only get about 1...

Re: Friday, January 10, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

so I'm just guessing TPTB cut out the explanation because they didn't want to touch that issue with a ten foot pole. You'da thunk it would have been foreseeable enough to just scrap the clue if the politics was going to be an issue. It's not like they don't consider alternate correct responses for ...

Re: Friday, January 10, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Regarding the Church of the Nativity clue weirdness: In a private forum, several people who were in the studio at the time have related that TPTB stopped tape and substituted a different clue, which Jack got. The game went on from there. That at least explains why, after the break, Katie's score wa...
