DD3 was EYKIOYD. From my Archive search, this is the first time contestants have ever had to come up with Ponyboy. Props to MacKenzie for coming up with it!
I read The Outsiders in high school and don't remember anything about it except the author...

Re: The Jeopardy! Anytime Test

I came to the same realization when I heard the Maggie news, that those who auditioned under Maggie would not have a good chance of continuing. I know people have been contacted long after an audition though. The current season of J! Is almost over, they stop taping in April, there aren’t terribly m...

Re: The Jeopardy! Anytime Test

It's #4 that confuses me. What happens after clue 50? Do you get an option to submit/try again - basically gambling that your submission was your best effort? If you finish clue 50, does it automatically submit it for you, locking you out? I imagine after clue 50 if you submit, that's it. They figu...

Re: The Jeopardy! Anytime Test

Other info from the FAQs site says this: All categories and clues will be pulled from a large database of material. Users should expect a balanced assortment of Jeopardy! topics in the Anytime Test, but the clues will be delivered in random order. Test takers need not select preferred audition citie...

Re: Tuesday, February 18, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I would not much at all on word play categories for DD because you have to be thinking along the same lines as the writers, it isn't as cut and dry as knowing a fact necessarily. I don't think repossess is used much to indicate getting your car back from a reposession. African Geography is a FJ cate...

We obviously weren't supposed to recognize the author or his work.
Martin Fierro was a favorite of my Spanish teacher who is from Argentina, and we studied it, so I knew it instantly...Nightmares...

Forgot about that! Yep. I wonder what made that the $1200 clue and Wilder the $2000.
I knew Wilder but not Kazan, so I was a little surprised on the values of the clues. Jeopardy! really wants us to know about the Oscars, this year's ceremony is this weekend...

Re: Wednesday, February 5, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I'm not particularly strong on musicals, but only the bottom two clues required some knowledge about the musicals they were from (namely, that Spamalot is a Monty Python musical and that Annie is an orphan). The rest had enough to go off of for me to run the category. I've seen both shows, and it s...

Re: Wednesday, February 5, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I consider Musicals my strongest category, but I struggled in this category last night. Got I think 2 out of the 5, (the DD where I would have bet everything I would have missed).

Re: Quick Rules Q

The two game shows that I have been associated with, MSQ and History IQ, both gave us the rules ahead of time to read, and I think we had to sign them. I would have assumed J! did as well, but I guess not. Not that I would waste the mental energy to read them...

If it ever comes up, and I think they have asked this before, if a cruise ship has "of the Seas" as parts of its name, it is a Royal Caribbean ship.

40 for me tonight off video, I don't know the order of the planets yet...I saw Knives Out, but couldn't think of the director's name. One or two more I should have known. Put Greece for the PM at first but switched it to Finland, Greece recently now as a female prime minister. This year on all three...

Re: Monday, January 27, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Depending on your familiarity with them I would suggest running Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and Rod McKuen through the Archive for starters. I know the pavlovs for the first two, never heard of Rod McKuen. Is there anyone more recent? Poetry seems to have almost died as a literary form in terms of...
