I can understand not knowing who holds the walks record or not knowing him by the picture, but guessing a player who retired 25 years before the season cited in the answer was particularly bad.
This.

It was clear she couldn't pick a 40 year old Lou Brock out of a line-up.

A small wager worked out for her tonight because she got it wrong but there was not much reason to hold back over $8000.

Caitlin should have bet exactly 9300, not a dollar more.

Re: Thursday, June 10, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I think Ankit should've bet exactly 4800. It's just enough to beat a cover & miss by Mara, while still preserving 2nd place if Ankit misses. My choice would have been 6200 exactly. In the unlikely event Mara bets zero, he still has a shot with a tie-breaker, but as long as she wagers something and ...

Re: Wednesday, June 9, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

When I heard Macon GA, I immediately thought Little Richard, but the "overlooking water" didn't jive. Then I clicked on "posthumous" and quickly knew it must be Redding. I wasn't conciously aware that he was also from Macon. "Posthumous hit" would have been enough given the category. If it is 1970s ...

Re: Tuesday, June 8, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Verlinda has terrible Daily Double wagers to blame for not repeating. Naturally, Verlinda picked the FJ! round to then bet big. If the previous game was any indication, I'm not so sure that Verlinda would have wagered enough to beat Molly doubling up, with pre-FJ scores at 9500-9000-17200. She may ...

Re: Monday, June 7, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I didn't need Mayim to tell me De Haviland wasn't correct, since she was very much alive in 2013. I had to root for Derek from Cass county Mich, the second contestant from that part of the state since ToC runner-up Jennifer Quail. Cassopolis is only about 10 miles from Dowagiac. Too bad Derek couldn...

Grace reminded me of Survivor winner Sarah Lacina and Julia was like an SNL player parodying Jennifer Love Hewitt. While watching tonight, I realized that John was a remind alike of David Byrne. https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/peel/images/b/b1/11574155_1_x.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20170316220942

Re: Wednesday, June 2, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

FJ: What is Tribune? John had better get that, being from Chicagoland. Maybe this is why Mayim didn't mention the Chicago Tribune at the end. Didn't want to help the audience get any ideas that John had an unfair advantage? I delivered the South Bend Tribune in my youth but I didn't get t...

Re: Tuesday, June 1, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Kevin left 2900 on the table at DD2 and that could have been enough for him to lead for the FJ! round if (a big if) Robin still loses 3000 on DD3. I honestly think he pulled 'St. Louis' out of his ass. Strange that he would hold back so much on the DD, yet go all in from second on FJ. Yeah, he coul...

Re: Tuesday, June 1, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

It's always refreshing to hear a contestant start their chit chat time without using the word 'So' at the begining of the first sentence. For that, I was rooting for Robin. With only $400 remaining on the board, she needn't wager more than 1801 on her last DD to try and secure the lock. If she had o...

Re: Friday, May 28, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

To put it in perspective, Jennifer's two wrong answers in this game totaled more than her peasley DD wager.

'Joan Jett' was a good example of the careless guesses that she let slip during this tourny. At least by that point it was all over for her anyway.

T-o-C Gaffs of all time

It was as if Jennifer forgot this was Game 2, and not Game 1 of the Finals. I'm usually not one to analyze or critique DD wagers but I almost stroked out when Jennifer made ' The Wager '. What a let down. I put it on the same scale as 'The Fumble' in the 1987 AFC Championship game. One of the grand ...

Re: Thursday, May 27, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I'm rooting heavily for Jennnifer but she didn't get off to a great start for this two-day final. First, she guessed herself into a hole. Then she missed a very gettable DD, which she didn't seem to mentaly double check herself before blurting out the wrong response. Followed by another wrong guess ...

Re: Tuesday, May 25, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Boy, it took five years off Veronica's life to wager all 4200 on that DD. I don't look for her to be making any Roger Craig plays in the Finals. Glad she won because Ryan was ticking me off by (repeatedly) going back to the PALACE category, when that might cause some clues to be left uncovered. Name...

NHO Lewis Hamilton. The only race car drivers with that last name I could think of were Pete Hamilton and Bobby Hamilton. Both too obscure for J! Re: Tuesday, May 18, 2021 FJ wagering (SPOILERS)

Nice work by Karen to win the game with a hit or miss as 2000 if she missed the FJ! clue would have had her wining anyway with 12200 to Nibir at 12199. 16,200 won the game but it wouldn't have been an air tight wildcard score. 14,201 was certainly less than air tight. I find it uncanny that she pre...

Re: Monday, May 17, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I wanted to see Sarah bet at least 5000 on her DD. She seemed woefully unprepared for that situation. Was expecting her to leave some on the table for FJ, but the extra time to think about it must have been enough to come to the right conclusion. I didn't have a problem with the way Ryan handled him...

I have only listened to Rumours (most of the tracks) involuntarily. Never owned a copy.
The only track that I won't arbitrarily turn the station when it comes on the radio is, Never Going Back Again.

Re: Monday, May 10, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Why did they let Juliet get away with that phrasing during DJ? Bill’s explanation made no sense. Without that she doesn’t have a runaway. FWIW, I can't think of a time when Alex let a "Not in the form of a question" slip by in DJ. Rules is rules! I think it was obviously a case of Juliet not enunci...

Re: Tuesday, May 11, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Then her bet actually looks, pretty smart. I find it interesting that Juliets wager, wins on a triple stumper, if Jeff makes the bet to cover for second place (the text book 5,201) Also, if second and third bets they way you think they should then she would have won on a triple get. The fact that s...
