Re: Friday, April 9, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I've seen all three film versions of OMaM, so the clue clicked pretty well for me. (Burgess Meredith, Robert Blake, Gary Sinise)

If only Pasquale would have known Cognac, he could have prevented the runaway.

Re: Tuesday, April 6, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I wonder if anyone on the boards matched my wrong FJ to match Erin's. It's famous history near here. In 1901, Teddy was in the Adirondacks when McKinley was shot. He was staying there, and eventually began a frantic midnight trip to Buffalo. I never considered that "cabin" referred to an airplane. ...

MarkBarrett wrote: The J! round ended with Scott at zero and Dr. Oz gave him $800 more before the DJ! round began to account for poor pinning on a disaster clue that led to a double get and a neg negated.
I knew there was something shoddy about that clue when all three negged.

After looking it up, I see that James Montgomery Flagg would have been 124 years old at the time 9/11 happened.

I was quite confident it would be the Uncle Sam "I Want You" image. Completely overlooked the part about the designer still being alive. :?
Curious to see how this one will poll.

...it didnt seemed like any of his clues were dubbed today. I noticed one that was obviously dubbed. Can't remember which category it was in. Amal was punching above his weight the previous two days. I never did get used to his hesitation technique, although I completely approve of it. Amal: Ring i...

Re: Tuesday, March 23, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Knew the correct years, so FJ was an easy get.

I think Dr. Oz is doing a fine job, considering his inexperience. He should be fairly polished after his turn is finished.

Re: Friday, March 19, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Expected Morgan to stay high & dry in FJ, playing for the stumper as that seemed to work before. As they went to break, I predicted she would overwager for a TS. She did as I expected but Jilana made a larger overwager to win last place in the event of a TS Morgan may have underbet in her second ga...

Re: "The Chase" March 11

Anybody have a heads up on when tonight's episode will air? There was an announcment just before the big guy was going to go on TV, that the regular programs would be shown in their entirety after the speach. Turned it back to ABC at 9:00 and something besides Celebrity Wheel of Fortune was on. I f...

Re: Wednesday, March 10, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I didn't have the foggiest idea on FInal, so I just took a guess with my favorite Bond title song. Pretty surprised when Zach's response matched my guess and it was correct. I would have been able to identify Sonny Barger from the photo, if that had been asked. Katie mispronounced his last name with...

Re: Tuesday, March 2, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Speaking of Jon, that DD3 wager. Yikes. He needed $2401 for the lock, took his time and did the math, and wagered $2000. Luckily, the sole FJ! solve rendered the issue moot. You could say he he didn't want to restrict his earning potential on a close lock FJ wager. But that obviously wasn't the cas...

To the contestants who did not get the John Young & Robert Crippen visual clue: Did you see what they were holding? Are video clues that tough in the studio? So strange. That one blew my mind. Someone should have gotten that one even without the photo. After reading more comments around the web I'm...

Re: Thursday, February 25, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Aaron's chat time provided an interesting bit of trivia about the 'Pine Tar game" that I'd never heard before. Like our current champ, 80s movies are my wheelhouse, although looking back, I can see how the category could be tough since it relied a lot on character names. I'm 4/5 for actually seeing ...

Re: Thursday, February 25, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Michael's Final wager may not have been enough to cover 3rd place doubling up but it was good strategy against anything Marisa did with an incorrect response. It turned out to be a well timed gamble with that tough clue.

Sorry to see Aaron go.

Good high scoring game with an unfortunate end for Ken.
He was unable to pull one out of his ass when he needed it most.

Re: Monday, February 22, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

You could just see David deflate after the DD miss. How heartbreaking that had to be. I felt sorry for him...but that was a HUGE wager in a category that wasn't just knowledge-based. I wonder if he was partly inspired to go big based on how easy DD2 was, that Sam benefitted from. "Who was assasinat...

Re: Wednesday, February 17, 2021 wagering

If Phil bets just enough to beat a doubling bet by Natalie, he beats Andy $7,999 to $1,999. Except in the case of a well-wagered game he still would have lost to Natalie if she would ever realize she has no chance of winning on an all-in bet, so she must bet $800 or less to win on the TS. I wouldn'...

Re: Thursday, February 11, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Maritime Disasters and The Title Instrument were nice plums for me. Knew Andrea Doria cold; my parents had kept an original July 1956 issue of LIFE magazine covering the event. It contained spectacular airial photographs of the sinking. Enough lach trash in that category alone to win on a TS, thanks...

Re: Tuesday, February 9, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Morgan sure didn't put much preasure on John in that Final. There wasn't any reason not to bet at least $5999. I went with New Hampshire, because it's similar to asking about the shortest coastline on Lake Michigan. Didn't bother to think of anything else. In hindsight, I realize over 3,000 miles in...
