Re: FJs for the 5/3/21 week

I have only listened to Rumours (most of the tracks) involuntarily. Never owned a copy.
The only track that I won't arbitrarily turn the station when it comes on the radio is, Never Going Back Again.

Re: Monday, May 10, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Why did they let Juliet get away with that phrasing during DJ? Bill’s explanation made no sense. Without that she doesn’t have a runaway. FWIW, I can't think of a time when Alex let a "Not in the form of a question" slip by in DJ. Rules is rules! I think it was obviously a case of Juliet not enunci...

Re: Tuesday, May 11, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Then her bet actually looks, pretty smart. I find it interesting that Juliets wager, wins on a triple stumper, if Jeff makes the bet to cover for second place (the text book 5,201) Also, if second and third bets they way you think they should then she would have won on a triple get. The fact that s...

Re: Friday, May 7, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Bummed at Jamie's loss. She led for most of the game and all she needed was a FJ that she could process. I was really hoping she would get five wins. Juliet wagered too much but would have won on a triple stumper because Sara also overwagered. I had Juliet's best wager at 5999. LT: Trans Atlantic Ca...

Re: Wednesday, May 5, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I hadn't thought about the Scrabble angle. But she'd already been stumped on loudmouth and courteous so at that point I think I'd say Scrabble Schmrabble. Maybe words with double "ou"s in them are too long to be of interest to Scrabble mavens. Yeah, the stand & stare on Loudmouth was a head scratch...

Re: Wednesday, May 5, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Hanna said her sister came in 2nd by a buck a few years ago. Here's my best guess for the sister: https://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6039 Gotta be her, thanks, and by coincidence Hanna got the WFT today. Liz got CASSIC ROCK for her FJ category and Hanna got CLASSIC ALBUMS . I'd be in pi...

Re: Wednesday, May 5, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

DD2 (DJ19): Jamie bets $3000 in a category that has produced two triple-stumpers with the only get being in the top row. I was yelling "FIVE DOLLARS!!!!!!" at the TV to no avail. That was one rough category. I did finally pull the correct response on that DD, but I'm not sure if I did it in time. U...

Re: Tuesday, May 4, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

It's a shame we won't see more of Emily, she really did have the trivia chops and the bold strategy to make waves, but them's the breaks. I would call it a crash and burn. She missed two very gettable clues plus the stand and stare for Shackleton, which combined, would have been enough to prevent t...

Re: Thursday, April 29, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Not sure about this but I presume the GEOGRAPHIC TOP 10s for $600 clue was refering to places with high humidity? Me and my sister responded Florida, along with Colin. I was thinking of soggy ground but if I thought in terms of rainfall, I would have answered Washington. Either way, that was a crap...

Re: Thursday, April 29, 2021 FJ wagers (SPOILERS)

When second and third are tied with more than 1/2 the leader's score, wouldn't this be a situation where they each would need to go all in? It was quite ironic that Leah was involved in this scenario, immediately after the previous game. I was eager to see how she (and Colin) would handle it, verses...

Re: Wednesday, April 28, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I'm OK with Leah's wager but if she chose not to go all in, she should have strongly considered 6202. We've seen suicide wagers from Dana's position more than once. Why not $6201? Either way, I agree she should have considered something in that range, and maybe she did. But if she goes that way, sh...

Re: Wednesday, April 28, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Wasn't sure about FJ and I didn't know if Huston, Ford, or DeMille was the director of The Ten Commandments but managed to pick the right one. Before my time. You were right in the ballpark with your picklist. John Huston was probably the closest incorrect guess, as he had a film titled The Bible w...

Re: Friday, April 23, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I understand why $1 is the favored play and why some others might go with the zero wager. In Kelly's place I would have gone 7500 since I liked the category and let chips fall where they may. I agree. I was kinda hoping Kelly would maximize his wager to 7595. That would have stung ten times as bad ...

Re: Wednesday, April 21, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Ellen really should have bet $5 on that Bible DD. Clearly not a strong category for any of the contestants. Asked to name a book in which Jesus raised Lazarus, Max guessed a book from waaayyy before Jesus was born, and Ellen guessed a book where Jesus disappears into heaven by the 9th verse of chap...

Yes. You have to wonder what Mike was thinking.
He seems to have a desire to make that happen. Like it's on his bucket list or something.
We'll see if he makes it three games in a row on tomorrow's show.

Re: Monday, April 19, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Patrick left 7000 on the table with his DD3 wager. More betting nerve and he's sitting at four wins and nearly $100K. Furthermore, he made a serious wagering gaff on FJ, not just opting not to cover Donna but potentially getting into a tie-breaker with Mike on a TS. Donna's wager was not much bette...

Re: Tuesday, April 13, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Erick was the best of the three players and earned the win with the sole solve while his 15400 or 21000 finishing numbers have me curious about the strategy. Perhaps Erick will manage to find a DD tomorrow (not likely in the first box) to give a better idea how he plays things. The right mechanics ...

I've seen all three film versions of OMaM, so the clue clicked pretty well for me. (Burgess Meredith, Robert Blake, Gary Sinise)

If only Pasquale would have known Cognac, he could have prevented the runaway.

Re: Tuesday, April 6, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I wonder if anyone on the boards matched my wrong FJ to match Erin's. It's famous history near here. In 1901, Teddy was in the Adirondacks when McKinley was shot. He was staying there, and eventually began a frantic midnight trip to Buffalo. I never considered that "cabin" referred to an airplane. ...
