I must be setting a LL record for ineptitude this season. A personal record-setting 7th straight loss (dating back to last season) and a 2(3)-8(4) loss on MD6.
I am currently am having a winless season and looking forward to a nice time in B Magnolia next season.

Re: Learned League 84

Taiga D, Div 2, after promotion from E. Does Cyndi update the roster every new season? I think I don't need to do anything to be current. Yup, and I did post it a couple days ago on the first page of this discussion thread. :-) However, it is an excel spreadsheet and I do vlookups from my database ...

PM me if you would like to have yourself listed/delisted. If you give me your LL name, I can set it up indefinitely via the power of Excel and data pivots. Alpine: C Alpine: TheyCallMeMrKid *Ronin, Aurora: A Aurora: fowlerism, Badlands: A Badlands: Cat Hammarskjold, C Badlands: Pburns1587, Bayou: D ...

Re: LL83: Learned League

A momentous day in the Pruss-Knobel household: cmp146 and I play each other in both the public Magnolia A and private JBoard rundles. In A Mag this match might actually mean something: we are both within shouting distance of making the championship. It is still unlikely, as there are other people i...

Re: LL83: Learned League

I just wasn't sure if it's as good as whatever other candidates there are. Generally speaking, anything we come up with is significantly better than what actually gets nominated. Well, Anything ±3σ I am still basking in the glory of my third place finish in LL68: A current best-selling advice/how-t...

Re: LL83: Learned League

Good to see that cmp146 got the prussic acid question correct (and got 2 points for it!). Shoutout to Professor Pruss who is now leading A Magnolia! If her opponents keep defending her like that (zero for Soul Train?) she will keep winning. I don't get it, what's wrong with zero for Soul Train? It ...

Re: LL83: Learned League

I've never heard of an isosceles trapezoid either. Though I thought my guess of thrombus sounded pretty cool. I knew it was going to be Hepburn/Tracy but ended up writing Hepburn/Grant because that's how an imperfect brain works. After yesterday's match, I have to hand in my passport, poutine and h...

Re: LL83: Learned League

It didn't matter in the match results, but I was given credit for "serum albumin" on the blood question. Any thoughts?: is that effectively close enough to the more general answer of just "serum" or did the scoring algorithm see the intended answer in the first word and stop there? I couldn't tell ...

Re: LL83: Learned League

The person who has won A Magnolia several times, and beat me like a rented mule for years, isn't playing this sesson. The weird thing is that our head-to-head record has been wiped from the record. To be honest, I'm happy about that. Same for the person who posted six 9(6)’s to close out LL81 and b...

Re: LL82: LearnedLeague

Answering "Tuesday Next" instead of "Thursday Next" when spotted a date this week is super-fail. Also, my memory of my time at Barnes and Noble continues to slip away. I do still remember there's 2 F's in Jasper FForde, though. I got that one cold- I read the whole series, and then remembered that ...

On the plus side, my Integrity Number is 4. :) How do you find that? And for that matter, what is it? It's like the Bacon number. It's basically how far you are from one of the original members. You just click on the flag until you get back to a Charter Member or Commissioner Invite. For me, my cha...

Re: LL82: LearnedLeague

I thought that I had a good shot at a 6-pack yesterday, but I had a RTFQ moment on the first question. For some reason I thought that the theme was men who walked on the moon, so I spent my time deciding between Selene and Luna. I thought that it was an odd way of asking a mythology question. The m...

Re: LL82: LearnedLeague

I got assigned a 0 (correctly, theoretically) for that one but missed it to end up with the dreaded 9(5). For some reason my brain latched onto the Hardy Boys and never let go of that notion. My brain also did the Hardy Boys connection, and then I missed two Kosman coinflips on Selma vs. Montgomery...

Re: LL82: LearnedLeague

Cyndi you do an amazing job of maintaining the list of Boardies every season. Thank you for all of that effort. I appreciate it. You are very welcome. I have it streamlined with some excel tricks with vlookups and concatenations for formatting, so it is a fairly quick list to generate, formatting i...

Re: LL80: LearnedLeague

I went with Mercator because, who else could it be? But then I started thinking about the fact that there are a ton of other map styles, but stuck with it anyway. XKCD has two great comics on the Mercator projection, the second of which got me wavering on Mercator. Here they are: ( https://xkcd.com...
