Re: 2020 Current Events Discussion Thread

The NFL’s Washington franchise is retiring the “Redskins” team name. I'll take advantage of one of my last chances to use an old joke: Why do some people want to change the name of the Washington Redskins? Because they feel that the term "Washington" is offensive. So, apparently the intended replac...

Re: Learned League 85 - Official Thread

The theme lyrics only say “this tropic port”, I would think there’s more than one in Hawaii. Yes, but anyone who has seen the show a lot would know they left from Honolulu. I admit it's a fairly minor plot point in a 50+ year old show, but if you're of a certain age you very likely grew up watching...

Re: A Math Question

I really want to thank everyone for jumping in with the math. My initial thought was either 41% or 59% by doing the 80*80*80*80 thing...but couldn't figure out which was the number I was looking for (we want to see zero roosters). So far, it's looking like all hens...but time will tell. I hate to b...

People also must wear coverings when they are in any indoor location where memb...

This is not really a poll. It's more of an informal query, but I welcome any feedback, private or public. Although as a freelancer I'm busier than ever during the pandemic, I have somehow also managed to be in a position to catch more news as it happens and post appropriate items to the Current Eve...

Re: A Math Question

My wife decided to buy chickens. She is hoping she doesn't end up with a rooster. She said the lot of birds the store gets their supply from claims 80% are hens. Since she bought 4 birds, I think the odds are 625:1 that one of them is a rooster. Am I correct? Trying to dust the cobwebs off this par...

Didn't the BWA duty get crowdsourced this time? Yes. They still picked one of the lamest ones to win, though. They can't all be winners, but still a better ratio this time. I voted (well, would have; I was too late to do so) for the ones that came in 3rd and 4th, so they weren't all bad. My first c...
