Re: Friday, March 27, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

... I understand why the contestants saved the San Diego Zoo category for last because I was expecting it would be a video category that would waste a lot of time. That was my reaction this morning when I got the categories off J!6. "Oh, no, I'm gonna have to archive a bunch of long-winded Clue Cre...

Re: Friday, March 27, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Trump decided to sign the stimulus bill during the interviews so I had to play the rest from the archive. Good grief.

My coin landed the right way today. Hooray for me.

Re: Thursday, March 26, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

J..... And Evan didn’t even try to win the game. Looks like Evan assumed Susan would make the normal cover wager, which would have dropped her to 5199, and Evan left himself with 5201. That part of it makes sense - he was just thwarted by a lower-than-expected wager from Susan. You have to factor A...

Re: 2020 Current Events Discussion Thread

Playwright Terrence McNally has died at 81 due to complications from COVID-19. McNally won 4 Tony awards - two for books for musicals, “Kiss of the Spider Woman” (1993) and “Ragtime” (1998), and two for plays, “Love! Valour! Compassion!” (1995) and “Master Class” (1996) Is he the first person of no...

Re: Wednesday, March 25, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I precalled Lend-Lease. I wasn’t a fan of letting the and slide, but no biggie. It got her an extra $1000 rather than a guy who already won a bundle.

I had a US history professor in college who mentioned it being bill 1776.

Re: Tuesday, March 24, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Two interesting posts from Nick's board history: https://jboard.tv/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2907&p=172874#p172874 https://jboard.tv/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2842&p=167344#p167344 Don't worry, Nick, neither one is your negative reaction to a prior J! champ. Too bad I wasn’t on yesterday’s show based on my res...

Re: Monday, March 23, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I sort of precalled this FJ after seeing the category. I recall reading an interview with Lear and he said Archie Bunker would definitely be a Trump supporter. I thought that might be used as a FJ clue, but that would probably be crossing a political line they don’t want to cross. I guess Meathead w...

Re: Monday, March 23, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

With the category “1970s Sitcoms”, I am betting it all. I am taking money out of my wallet and throwing it on the podium. I am passing the collection plate to let the audience in on the action. After suffering through a number of recent TV categories with shows I have never seen or even heard of, th...

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

I filled in 4/22/02: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=1748 Note to Julie: anticipating second will wager to catch up to first is a fine strategy when you're in third place and can't catch second (even though you might as well bet it all). It's not so good when second place is within yo...

Re: J! to Tape Without Live Audience

As was just posted, my hotel just canceled my reservation for the April 13/14 tape dates. Debating whether I should make an alternate reservation now or just wait a bit - I simply can't imaging they are going to be back to taping by then. I think they are just optimistically waiting until it's clos...

Re: J! to Tape Without Live Audience

How exactly is an episode sent out to affiliates? Will someone be able to go to the studio to do whatever it takes to send it out?

I wonder what kind of reruns they will show if the season ends early.

So if last week’s session was canceled and nothing else is done, that ends the season on May 29.

Re: Our Current Situation

I am in the grocery business, so my job is pretty safe. Right now I am stocking shelves and can see first hand what this has done to the supply chain. I have been at this store three days and have yet to see toilet paper. So I am very lucky to have a job. But I do have concerns about being among the...

Re: Friday, March 20, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

That was odd. Saturday Night Live had already been on the air for more than 20 years when Tina Fey joined the cast. OTOH, the first season with all three mentioned players was Season 27, which at this point was almost 20 years ago. They were on at about the midpoint of the show’s run. The midpoint ...

Did Alex call Tina Fey “the original SNL cast”?
No. He said "The early--the early days" and she said "Very early."
Thanks for the correction. The comment is just as inaccurate, however.
