Re: Monday, November 23, 2009 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Ben's interview story brought to mind some research I had done before a European trip a few years back. One commentator called the Czech diet a cardiologist's nightmare. Two favored items were fried cheese and fried cheese on a stick.
I did order the fried cheese sans stick just once for lunch.

I think he's got a fine sense of what he doesn't know; it's his sense of whether a correct response will be something he doesn't know that's lacking. Combined with all the things that completely fall back out of my head after the 10,000th time I've tried to learn them (e.g., which planet is the big...

Lefty guitarist from Seattle is a TS at $200?
I said Jimi, but did so hesitantly because I thought they were looking for a group due to the category. That may have thrown the contestants off as well.
I gotta say I was spoiled as to the nature of the category by J!6, but who else but Jimi?

I'll take the reciprocal. Socrates was the only "ancient" who came quickly to mind as having been famously tried and sentenced, but I only had about 5% confidence.

None of the words in the clue mean anything to me. Easter Island is off South America, and "Sutton Hoo" and "Bloomsbury" could be literally anywhere. In fact, "Sutton Hoo" sounds more Asian to me than anything else. The Boomsbury District also gave its name to the literary Bloomsbury Group, whose m...

A. There is a Newark, NY, though it isn't a city. B. My approach to 100th day was a little different. I know my birthday (3/6) always falls with 300 days left in the year, thus it would be day 66 in leap years and day 65 in others. Adding in the remaining 25 days of March brings us up to 90. Only 10...

I'd been unaware of Einstein's aversion to socks but I did know that No Pants Day is in January (though not through participating). I am surprised that this isn't better known. My understanding is that AE wasn't averse to socks but simply considered them redundant, something like "Hey, I'm wearing ...

And to keep things on topic, I hear the new, January 2021 issue of Games World of Puzzles has a story in it about Jeopardy. I haven't seen one yet, so I can't say for sure. I can confirm this. I should add the article centers on the experiences of Becky Anderson, a 1xJ! Champ in 2009. http://www.j-...

Agree with Myron on the Burr clue. There were literally only two possibilities and TJ seems much more likely. Even if you include future presidents none of them makes any sense. Sure, I follow the logic and that's probably why I settled on the correct response. But I didn't do so with full confiden...

Yep, that's the spot. Vermilion Cliffs area west of Page.

My wife and I would visit the region every few years for our anniversary. We were married on the beach at Lee's Ferry.
