Re: Wednesday, May 26, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

While my response was "what is absolute zero?", I don't see what was wrong with "what is zero kelvin?"

I said Calvert too. My understanding is that Calvert is the family name, Baltimore is the title.

I would have really thrown the judges for a loop on "I'm on a boat!" for $400. My response was "what is promotion to Rear Admiral?" They may have negged me originally (or maybe not) but on review they would have to give it to me. Definitely a neg at first, but yeah, they'd have to allow it. Risky g...

This FJ! was an instaget for me. For some reason a national anthem that obviously wasn't French that praises Charlemagne immediately made me think of The Song of Roland, which of course has its climax in the Pyrenees. Add in the Bishop of Urgell and WECIB?

I'm amused by the option for Martin or Lewis. Neither Dean nor Jerry ever occurred to me

Would measuring sogginess of the ground be a thing? Maybe, bacause humans like to quantify things, but it seems rather obscure... Well, I've just asked my son, a civil engineer, about this. He says "tons of people measure soil moisture. It's a major component of assessing the potential for flood or...

Once I recognized the theme of the Hard Science category, I would have been very disappointed if there hadn't been a Mohs scale question. :)

I was pretty sure the correct FJ! response was going to be one of Oldsmobile, Mercury, or Plymouth. All three makes were discontinued in roughly the same timeframe. I finally decided that Oldsmobile best fit the given year.

I do not know about ed.s 3-5 https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/2009 (Amusingly, the 6th was the edition that dropped the 'On' from the title  ) Well, th...

I am tempted to call "BS" on "Chapters in non-fiction books" $800. I have frequently read that Darwin never actually used the phrase "survival of the fittest"; that it was Herbert Spencer who invented it. In my facsimile copy of the first edition of "On the origin of species" the title of chapter I...

The Olympics:

The 1994 Winter games, the first held in a different year than the Summer games, were held in this Scandinavian city.

Fourth podium win is possible.
I picked up the full $7600 of LT and got FJ!. Unfortunately I didn't do very well otherwise. I said "gold gloves" (which is baseball) instead of "golden gloves; Bolivia instead of Paraguay (RTFC!); and blurted out Peru when I knew darn well it was Ecuador.
