Re: Tuesday, September 22, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

This was one of those games that felt like it was handpicked for me. I set an all-time personal Coryat record at $45,000! The only things I didn't know: bottom three in the You Gotta Fight! category, nonfiction (brain too slow), Henry Miller, and Bonnaroo. I double checked my math because I didn't b...

Re: Monday, September 21, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Pulled $34,400 today (new average: $35,266.67)! I waffled for too long between System of a Down and Rage Against The Machine, and definitely should have gotten Leon Uris. Other than that, I think I had a fair game. Super happy that I'm 4/6 on Final, because last season it felt like I was really, rea...

Re: Friday, September 18, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

$31,000 today (running average: $35,440)

Herman was AWESOME. I'm embarrassed to admit I wasn't looking at the screen on DD1 and confidently also said Darwinism. Really struggled with the bottom row of DJ, but final was an instaget.

Re: Thursday, September 17, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Much better game for me than yesterday! Finished at $36,800 (running average: $36,550) and got all three DDs and final! I could have had more: I chickened out of saying Zooey Deschanel and Breakfast of Champions. I also definitely should have had Liechtenstein, but my brain didn't work quickly enoug...

Re: Wednesday, September 16, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Today was rough for my score ... $27,600 drops my average to $36,466.67, literally a 4k drop. But it's only episode 3, so I'm hoping it will level out as the data set grows. Got my first final of the season, but also missed my first DD of the season. The first round, in particular, felt difficult .....

Re: Tuesday, September 15, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Today was an even better show for me, coming in at $41,200 (running average: $40,900). A little irritated that I was stumped by Mary Higgins Clark, and even more irritated that I confidently said Jan Van Eyck instead of Jan Vermeer. Anyone have a clever way to separate the Jans? Got all the DDs, bu...

My husband's Zoom audition invite popped up as we were watching today's J! season opener. We're in the Chicago area.
Happy for you (and the other posters)!

But also sad because I'm hoping for one of those Chicago emails. Still keeping my fingers crossed.

Re: Monday, September 14, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Great day for me! Started the season at $40,600 on Coryat.

Not much to complain about there, but I am a little irritated at myself for proudly saying "Full House" instead of "Roseanne" and Paganini instead of "Pagliacci." And I got stuck on Colisseum for final, but did manage all three DDs!

This was a lot of fun! Thanks for hosting. This was my first time participating and I'm excited to do these more often.

Re: Learned League 86 - Aug/Sep 2020

Sitting down for the championship questions was terrifying. Lots of impostor syndrome. I'm certain I did not do well enough to be in contention for it, and that's ok ... it felt good doing it and knowing that I could still answer a healthy amount of questions. In other news ... I started the first w...

Re: 2020 Jeopardy North American Audition Tour

COVID made the wait after a test even more maddening than normal. My city is Chicago and I haven't seen any updates for that at all ... is it worth holding out hope that they will be sitting on those test results until they can pull names for auditions? I've heard of people who've had "passing" (35...

Re: Learned League 86 - Aug/Sep 2020

My first two rounds were losses. I got 5 right on each (missed O2 and Paris), but both opponents went 9(6). Not the best start!
