Man, this episode hurt so good

Perhaps the dumbest set of opera clues we’ve ever seen. This “green” guy? Come on, writers!
If Jeopardy opera knowledge equaled real opera knowledge, I'd be giving lectures at the Met.

While telling us about the Mexican-American war, my eighth-grade history teacher Mr. Zamastil explained that, were it not for worries over upsetting the delicate slave state-free state balance, the USA's southern border might today have been at Guatemala. I've kept it in my head it all these decades...

WHAT AN IDIOM! for $200: "It doesn't affect me adversely, so it's "No skin" from here". Accepted response: "off my nose". My response: "off my back". I assume this is just a regional difference? I think they used to run pretty even but Ronald Reagan's Mohs surgery to remove a skin cancer seemed to ...

Whenever I see "Emma Lazarus", I always think of "Momma", by Mell Lazarus. I used to identify with Francis before I got old.

Don't get that. We're all too young to remember Thomas Jefferson's presidency, and yet they still manage to slip him in there from time to time, and some of us actually answer correctly. I once heard an old trivia vet say "there's no such thing as 'before my time' to a real trivia buff." There's on...

I guess this warning only ran the first time each episode aired? With Sesame Street it was the other way; the 40th anniversary DVDs bore the warning that some material may be unsuitable for young children. Too late for me.

Can we agree that the peacock clue was horribly misplaced, at least? Definitely. I think they should have included the word "proud" in there to describe the bird and that would have provided the necessary TOM. I suspect that some clues are placed in the top row not so much for their perceived easin...

And I've gotten many of the season's hardest questions (Beverly Sills, Apu, Naguib Mahfouz) while botching apparent gimmes like Fatboy Slim. It's just never duLL. I was surprised that Fatboy Slim played as easy as he did, since I didn't think that he had been relevant since...1999, or thereabouts. ...

Last night's clue (" Now stepping to the collection plate & leading mass in 2008 at Yankee Stadium, this pope, No. XVI, this pope ") under the category Hear Here, New York was very clever as it mimicked the late Bob Sheppard. Sheppard was the long-time announcer at Yankee Stadium (1951-2007). His t...

Dumb question: at least two posters have referred to Sid as "Katz". Is there some reference I'm missing His name is Sid Katz. Ooh, nice! A little insidery though, no? My first thought in FJ was this scene from "Dangerous When Wet" (1953, as it happens, though I couldn't remember the title anyway). ...

I read an article a couple weeks ago about bad movie accents and Van Dyke was mentioned as one of the worst offenders. He said he didn’t know it was bad at the time because none of the British people on the set said anything. Interesting we had a corona clue in a game with Dick Van Dyke as FJ. Ther...

I said "Assassinate" for the clue about Cladius being poisoned. Would that get a BMS? Who knows, but I suppose I'd give one very very grudgingly. "Death due to foul play" just about spells out 'assassination'. But I guess it is just possible his wife could have been afraid to poison him so simply a...
