Re: My Audition Experience (Chicago)
I arrived in Chicago yesterday for my audition today. I spent a couple hours down at Navy Pier because it was just about the only Chicago attraction still open to the public with NATO in town. The cab fare down there was $6 and coming back it was $12. Someone important was having dinner in the neigh...

Re: My Audition Experience (Chicago)
I'll be in Chicago on Monday for my audition. They're always great fun but I'm not lookIng forward to the snarled mess of NATO and its protests.
I thought Polaroid ceased to be a couple years ago. The contestant searchers must've bought what was left of the photo material.

What Alex hasn't mentioned (big surprise!) is that Constitution Hall, where the show taped, is rather infamous for its proprietors, the Daughters of the American Revolution, having denied the great African-American opera singer, Marian Anderson, the opportunity to give a concert at the venue in 193...

They were a smart group. Got a lot of clues I didn't. Gibbs was especially pokey in his clue choosing though. Too many uncovered clues including 2 daily doubles.

Re: Audition Emails
Just got the invite for Chicago. Since they've reopened registration for the adult test, my mom has decided to sign up and try. It'd be great if we could do the Chicago audition together.

I've been to the 9-11 Memorial and I don't recall seeing that quote anywhere. The date TOM in the FJ clue led me to the USS Arizona.
Yes, a very easy board. I had a higher Coryat than all 3 contestants combined.

44 ... Much easier than yesterday but that happens when there's no pressure and no distractions.
Got lucky on a lot of WAGs but chose the wrong T president and the wrong M European country.

37 this time. I said Sumatra for the island because it's crossed by the Equator and it's got an even closer proximity to the Malay peninsula. It's just not the world's 3rd largest. Spelled Gauguin "gaugin" and varicose "vericose" so even if those aren't counted I still have 35. I...

My anxiety may have gotten the better of me. I missed at least 3 clues by skipping ahead when the time ran out. I'll know when the test is posted. Also, more WAGs than I'm comfortable with. Yesterday was way easier.

47 on this one. 3 WAGs that paid off -- Rembrandt, Schubert and Neptune; 2 blanks -- David and Sparks, and chose the wrong side of Italy for the sea.

Re: Friday, January 13, 2012 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)
Perhaps I was the only one who read "this President & V.P." and thought it was referring to one person, i.e. a person who has been both. At that point I was doomed, because it ruled out JFK. That was something that confused me as well, so I just said George HW Bush. Lobster (Maine) be...

I'm signed up to try the test again on Wednesday. I hope they fix it in time.
Some people coughhackerscough have too much time on their hands.
Edited to add
The J! facebook page says they're the ones doing the maintenance and hope to be back up soon.
