Re: Thursday, January 14, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Do you know anything about the book? I've never read it, saw the movie once, but only one of the sisters fits the category. It's one of those things that comes up all the time, yet no information about it has ever managed to stick. I think it's because with some things, so many facts come up so oft...

The word "basic" was in there. Nothing more basic than a fastball when it comes to pitching.TenPoundHammer wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 9:55 pm
Teaching the Sport was a quick 0/5 for me. Any reason I should know that pitch at $200 was a fastball?

Re: Learned League 85 - Official Thread
I am surprised that Westminster didn't play easier, as I thought that there would probably be a lot of LLamas who have traveled to (and live in or near) London. When I saw the question, I'm like, "I didn't even know London had boroughs" despite having visited there for one day. When I saw the answe...

Re: GOAT Tournament Day 1 (1/7/20) Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Something else I thought of is the fact that in a regular game, when it's late-stage DJ and second place can prevent a lock but third place can't, whether first place has a lock is usually irrelevant to third place's chances of winning.* But under those circumstances in this format, if the player i...

:D :D :D on DDs. Shame on the contestants for not recognizing the San Diego Chicken. :P How is Norman Lear a TS? If I can get him, anyone should. :o FJ gave me little trouble. TPTB, can you please screen for people who know something about sports? I'm officially in the pool on May 1, though it looks like I can't do anything about it for now. Easy 3 questions in baseball for me. Would have liked to have seen the rest of it. What's the purpose of betting $600 on...

Nope. I was disappointed from the first DD, then Nibir getting the ones in DJ just made the outcome inevitable.Bamaman wrote: ↑Fri Apr 17, 2020 5:55 pmI guess you weren’t too excited today.1stlvlthinker wrote: ↑Fri Apr 17, 2020 4:21 pmI'm just more excited for the inevitable true daily doubles that will be coming from Tyler/Xiaoke. But likewise, I agree with MarkBarrett's assessment on this, if Nibir were to somehow blow this $21,000+ lead, that would be a travesty. It's going to have to come down with Tyler or Xiaoke getting hot on the buzzer and hoping that in some way, Nibir struggles. We'll just have to wait and find out ...

I mentally facepalmed when the player from Princeton either missed or ignored every clue directly or peripherally related to Princeton and the Ivy League. And when the sophomore from Texas didn't get the one about sophomores, or Texas. I thought the sophomore did get the question about sophomores.

Hemant and I (and clt) auditioned in Milwaukee last November. There's a good shot of us on the Jeopardy special with Michael Strahan.
Well, it's a good shot of him. I'm not sure why I'm so frowny.

Nice work Nick. I think we were at the same audition last November in MKE (but I can't be sure since I was pretty much just focused on trying not to suck).
I knew who they were talking about in FJ, but I got as far as "Emma somebody". I just didn't remember the last name.

How often does the leader A) fail to make a cover wager, and B) get FJ right and still lose because of said wager? I guess the follow up question is how often does 2nd place actually go for the double? Can't be that often, right? No more than a few times a season would be my guess. Off the top of m...

Last day, and it's been a roller coaster of a ride for me. Not winning in the first 7 match days, then went on a streak to peak at 12th in my rundle, to losing 3 in a row, two of which by defense, I'm now in the relegation zone. A win doesn't guarantee me getting out of it. I might be going from E -...

I didn't know what Latin for "white" was so I went the other way, starting with sea birds first. Swan, penguin, pelican, oooh pelican, that sounds maybe Latinish? Let me keep going. Albatross... wait, albinos are white, is that the same root? Well, let's go with it.
Woohoo!
