Re: Monday, January 25, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I'm curious if anyone who got one of the two was thrown by the "opposite sides" stipulation? E.g. you guessed Monaco/Turkey or Algeria/Israel. I guess I was. I got Monaco right away, and immediately looked east instead of south. I ended up with Egypt as my second guess, and that's after I crossed o...

Judges:. Answered "increase" for the 1,2,3,4 clue. :?: FJ was a WECIB for me, answered without the starting "The" as it didn't make sense grammatical ly. Sucks playing the football category from the archive when you can't see Alex's signals. :( I went 4 out 5 on the football category, bef...

Re: Friday, February 28, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
"Traditionally, this is the first full day of the Paschal Triduum, leading up to Easter Does the word "full" make any difference?" I didn't remember the 'answer', so maybe that's what they were getting at. As a Catholic, I would think a 'full' day would start at Thursday evening's service. Day 3 wo...

When I saw the category, I loved it. However, the clue could have been, "The Marquess of Queensberry Rules" apply to this sport, and I still wouldn't have gotten it. I think my range of sports knowledge is higher than the average Jeopardy contestant, but that doesn't extend to boxing.

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Central), January 29, 2020
Depending on the test, I'm either high 30s or low 30s, usually. Of course, I did yesterday's by the video and hit 38. Today's I thought was so much harder. In just about every equivalent category, I thought today's was tougher. In geography, yesterday I got Libya, but today, missed the Norway one. Y...

Re: GOAT Tournament Day 4 (1/14/20) Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Kinda interesting that on DD2, Ken said it called for a more conservative strategy.... in the end, if he was aggressive and everything else played out the same way from that point forward, would he have been able to lock out James in FJ? I thought the same thing, but James needed just about $16,000...

Re: GOAT Tournament Day 4 (1/14/20) Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I suspect that the debate in forums like this one about who is the greatest of all-time will continue. But I wonder if henceforth Brad will be left out of those discussions. His performance in the tournament was not up to speed. Even so, it was not sporting for James to call attention to Brad not s...

Re: GOAT Tournament Day 1 (1/7/20) Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Ken may regret not going bigger on FJ. My thoughts, exactly. Before this is over, I predict Ken loses a match because he goes small on a DD or FJ, then James goes huge on a future DD to get enough to take control. James only needed a ~$6k lead in the second game to have the lead, and if he catches ...

Re: THE "J" EFFECT $1000 clue 12/5/19 [SPOILERS]
As I started this whole debate, you know I knew they were Jimmies, even though to me, Jimmies are chocolate only. Always lived in the Boston area. My mother grew up in East Cambridge, so my Bostonian vocab comes from her. Other traditional Boston / New England area food and drink term Frappe - A ble...

Re: Thursday, December 5, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I've never been in so much pain watching a Jeopardy game. It started with a bottom row clue asking for jimmies, when what they showed weren't jimmies. ( Jimmies are black, chocolate sprinkles. Multicolored ones are just sprinkles .) This is by no means a universally agreed upon distinction. Yeah, I...

I've never been in so much pain watching a Jeopardy game. It started with a bottom row clue asking for jimmies, when what they showed weren't jimmies. (Jimmies are black, chocolate sprinkles. Multicolored ones are just sprinkles.) Then, that drawn out Goldblum category. Then, that painful Pats categ...

Swept Disney, which is the easiest category I think I've seen in awhile - all five song titles are must-knows, IMO. I could forgive Mary Poppins, but the sequel came out last year. Took me back to 7th grade chorus, where we did A Disney Spectacular, and I was Winnie the Pooh and Chimney Sweep #2. I...

For me the highlights of the game: LT on writ of certiori, Not if you spelled/pronounced it that way. Would just "cert" have been accepted for certiorari? I'm not sure I would have risked bungling the pronunciation of the full word, but I knew it was a "writ of cert," which is a pretty common phras...

I grew up in Vermont, so Smuggler's Notch was a gimme for me, but many states boast a city or town named Burlington, I thought that was a difficult clue. Smuggler's Notch is beautiful! We used to go there every summer as a family. There were a bunch of clues that living in Boston made much easier, ...

Any reason I should know some random Z-string politician from Iceland with no TOM whatsoever? It's the custom in Iceland for females to take on their fathers' first name +"dottir" as their surname. That was the giveaway. The bigger giveaway was "island nation" in Europe. Forgetting the name, the on...

So confident that FJ was Spring Awakening that I didn’t consider any alternatives. John is a very personable contestant - no offense to his competiton - and I hope he’s the first 5 game winner in a while. I went with Spring Awakening as well. I haven't seen it, but it has a season in the tit...

Anybody else clam on the $2000 SCOTUS question because you knew it was "Citizens United" but figured they wanted the full case name, and weren't sure who the other party was? I would bet that at least one of the contestants knew it and didn't ring in because of that. Apart from Roe v. Wade, there i...

Wilmette is a wealthy suburb of Chicago, it's a Pavlov for anyone originally from the Midwest. I'm with TPH on that one. I've never heard of that place before today and it certainly didn't help that we didn't get a spelling. I would say that was a seriously undervalued clue. I grew up in Michigan a...

I immediately said "end around" for the football question, so I was surprised when it was negged. I expected a reversal, but then I realized that the play had the RB taking the ball around the line and not a TE or WR. I'm not I've ever actually heard a commentator refer to a play as an "end run". No...
