Re: Rename the "lock-tie"?

You’re still locked into a tie at the end of FJ. You’re no longer locked into playing the next day. Except you're not locked into a tie because it could be statistically beneficial for you to go outright for the win in FJ and avoid the tiebreaker round entirely. You could still lose from a lock gam...

Re: 2021 Current Events Discussion Thread

Right-handed pitcher Joe Musgrove threw a no-hitter on April 9 against the Texas Rangers. It is the first no-hitter ever by a Padres pitcher. I'm not absolutely certain about this, but I believe the San Diego Padres were the last remaining MLB team never to record a no-hitter in franchise history. ...

Re: Rename the "lock-tie"?

Lock-tiebreaker This is accurate and simple yet indicates the difference from when ties were allowed. Nah, Chu Dilemma just sounds better. Anything with dilemma sounds better, or something similar. You have to make it sound like the leader is up against something. I also like: The Chu Quandary The ...

Re: Rename the "lock-tie"?

The Cravat Dilemma

(Since the player in first has to decide if they want to keep the tie and face off in the breaker round or try for the conversion and win it outright)

So Masters seems to be the one everyone remembers. Score another for the Patriarchy.
Haven't seen the show so "Masters of Sex" was all I had to go on (which, patriarchy be damned, is an awesome title)

The phrenology DD recalls this Final Jeopardy! from season 34 ETYMOLOGY: This 8-letter word meaning "cultured" or "intellectual" originated with a phrenology concept What is highbrow? Re: Monday, May 3, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Ulysses Grant, who smoked up to 20 cigars a day, was the only president who died of cancer. That is statistically mind-boggling, given that over 20% of men die of cancer. Sure enough, it checks out. Only possible exceptions being Jefferson - whose cause of death is not definitively known but had sy...

Just saw today that Aaron Rodgers is threatening to leave the Packers if they don't fire their GM.

I wonder if this'll be a factor in whether he gets the J! gig?
I'm sure this will all get straightened out once the owners get involved

I'm just not getting it. He was reading the clues faster than Ken did, but never slowed down. Then there were weird pauses. The pacing overall kept throwing me. And Friday he interrupts Emily to humblebrag about that book he read... If 360 here got the gig, I probably wouldn't stop watching, but I w...

Timing! Finished Fleabag on Wednesday and even made a note to remember the (hot) priest's actor. (He was also Moriarty on Sherlock). But more amusingly, my precall for the show came early, with Carrie. It's the horribly hilarious punchline used in response to the line favorite period movie Brain sh...

More LeVar! https://www.facebook.com/VancityReynolds/videos/454113319223784 Lemon in a G&T? I'm questioning this entire enterprise now. That's common on the other side of the pond, I think. Re: 2021 Current Events Discussion Thread

Harrison Schmitt has a legit claim to be the last person to walk on the Moon, Eugene Cernan's docu-bio title notwithstanding. Wouldn't it be clear cut? One of them had to be the last person back into the module. If you've ever seen interviews of the two of them, it was a running joke they had their...

Re: Friday, April 23, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Seriously, someone explain to me the logic of both Kelly and Dan's wagers. Dan's especially. IMO, Dan miscalculated and didn't know that he had exactly half the value of first place. He thought that Kelly had already won the game, so he bet enough to lock at Kimberly in third place. Kelly's bet, he...

Re: Reretaken Down

I do love that Soccer is an everyman's game and can be played with limited equipment and facilities, and mostly simple rules. I just think it needs some tweaking to create viewable content and suspenseful games. I don't know enough about it to suggest tweaks, but something has to be done about the ...
