Got five of the six yesterday (missed Ben). Lost to the only six-pack in the rundle, which is a bit frustrating.

Re: Fun with ABC's "The Chase" [Spoilers]

The steps of the casting process the first time around were: a) 10-minute, 50-question Zoom-proctored quiz b) if you do well enough on the Zoom quiz, you will shortly after get an invitation to a group Zoom session. There you and a small cohort will answer a bunch of multiple choice "at the table" q...

Re: Fun with ABC's "The Chase" [Spoilers]

The British version is also, critically, a daily show, so, combined with the lower prize pots, it's much more acceptable that the contestants only win once every five episodes or so. If the chasers win 80% of the time on a weekly show, you could go a couple of months without ever seeing any money gi...

My best guess is "I hope you're getting a lot of benefit about that; I know it made you feel good." although I'm not sure if that's 'you're getting' or 'we're getting'.

Yeah, I also landed on Rue Morgue for the first half of the think music before I realized Poe was American and it wasn't a novel. Was able to switch over to C&P (a book I have been meaning to read for years but have never gotten past the first 50 pages or so) with plenty of time.

Re: Fun with GSN's "Master Minds"

I'm guessing they go back and re-tape some of those facts. I noticed today that during the next-to-last clue in the 2nd round, Ken was up on Muffy 900-600, but when they cut to Jonathan for the fact, it showed Muffy with 1000 (and she did, indeed, get the final clue correct). I sometimes wonder if,...

Jane was very nice this week as she accepted "Great British Baking Show" rather than the intended answer of "Great British Bake Off".
It's usually called "Baking Show" in the US (certainly on Netflix and PBS) because Pillsbury owns the right to the term "bake off" over here.

Per Ken in Thursday's episode, the cut-off for the next ToC has already passed (Brian Chang will be in the subsequent tournament).

About 9-10 weeks. I originally taped mid-January and aired April 1. I don't know if the timeline has changed in recent years, though.

Re: Fun with ABC's "The Chase" [Spoilers]

Interesting that they called out one contestant for playing in the college tournament but not the ToCer. The pace of the questions is a whole lot slower than the British or Australian versions, but the stakes here are a lot higher (since they're both daytime shows, 1000 GBP / 2000 AUD per question i...

There are supposed to be two courts at Lucas Oil, although only one game will be played at a time there (I assume the other would be used for warm-ups and things of that nature).
