I think she was writing "hegira". Makes sense for a word for a journey from the Arabic.

Re: Fun with GSN's "Master Minds"

I filled out the application when the casting call first went out, but I filled out an application via a casting service before I saw the one Leszek had linked to. I hope that doesn't torpedo my chances of being selected.

Re: 2020 Current Events Discussion Thread

British singer Dame Vera Lynn has died at the age of 103. Also, Lawrence Ferlinghetti turned 101 in March. With creativity, he could be used to fill a category as well. But maybe an FJ clue would be the best fit here. He had one in 2004 (double get, 1 miss) so it's been a while.  :evil...

Re: Learned League 85 - Official Thread

Describing the film as a "psychological thriller" led me completely away from the right answer. (I would have described it as a "nihilistic garbage fire", but that's just me.) I also had no idea it had made quite that much money. I also put the RAND Corporation instead of Ford. Film is normally my b...

Re: Learned League 85 - Official Thread

I thought that I had a good guess for the duet singer (Luther Vandross) but Peabo Bryson never even crossed my mind. I lost the Kosman flip between Bryson and Aaron Neville. Only got two correct yesterday: Ireland and chanterelle and chanterelle was really just an educated guess. My singer Koin's w...

I chuckled a bit on Kelly's mispronunciation clue when Alex mispronounced the correct answer, too. (Daniel Kaluuya is pronounced kah-LOO-yah, not kah-LOO-you-ah.)

Totally surprised they accepted "colors" without BMS'ing it.
"showing one's colors" and "showing one's true colors" are both acceptable versions of the same idiom.

Thanks to all who informed me about Viking river cruises.
To be fair, I remember being at an airport and talking with a lady who was flying to Vienna for a cruise, which initially confused me until I later remembered about river cruises.

A river cruise line sponsored a Clue Crew trip to a landlocked country with a nice big river running right through it.

Yeah, I've missed this enough times to finally get it today. It's a perfect example of Jeopardy Canon, a fact that they love, especially for FJ, that they go to the well for over and over. Same. Apparently Lawrence's death helped lead to the invention of the motorcycle helmet. https://www.youtube.c...
