Re: Thursday, January 21, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

The interesting thing to me about the CLEVELAND category was that the anchors introduced themselves in the first clue they were called, even though they were called out of order. This suggests to me that the anchors either recorded two versions--one introducing themselves and one not--or the introdu...

When belief in facts becomes political, to be "apolitical" is to endorse lying.
Yes. Inasmuch as Jeopardy! has an obligation to be factual, Jeopardy! will necessarily be a "political" show as long as it is a "political" decision to accept or deny reality.

COVID is a natural cause.
That is true, by common definition, but that label certainly lacks death-certificate type precision.

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

if Merv sent out reruns in June 1985 starting with E1, wouldn’t games originally aired in November have rerun in August? Uh-huh, but maybe they rearranged the reruns rather than just starting them over with episode 1. It was easier to rearrange shows back then without continuity gaps because you co...

Even his ex-wife, whom he mistreated, threatened to kill, and extorted for royalties, still thinks today that he was a great genius in the studio. So. Some trivia from the NPR obit : Spector's first hit song, at age 18, was inspired by the inscription on his (suicide-victim) father's grave: "To know...

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

Through email I've received a theory that GSN marked the game as June 1985, but it was the rerunning of the game and not the original airing where he thinks Michael's run may have been 11/2-11/7/84 due to clues from the ending credits. Is that possible? There is no complete S1 rerun list anywhere, ...

Re: FJs for the 1/11/21 week

The number of captioning errors in the last year or so can be counted on a finger or two. As someone who has done a lot of archiving both with and without captions, I can say that captioners manage to catch things I never could have deciphered no matter how many times I replayed, with and without h...

My scoresheet and the resource both have that 6/12/92 game as 6/19/92.
Thanks, good call, I've made the change, fortunately there are no media clues to change the URLs for, but let me know if you see anything else that is spotty about the game.

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

I found 6/12/1992 as well http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6909 It's in. Toby turned on the juice in Double Jeopardy! to come away with his second win. One of the (non-winning) challengers talked about her three Fleming victories on the original daytime show with Art Fleming as well on...

The producers are going to want to see extended ratings data, and also get a feel for how probable candidates handle the production schedule and adjust to the role.
That would have been my expectation as well, but it seems the producers are not treating the guest hosting as auditions.

Re: J! archive - questions about clarification notes on clues

The "well, technically" referred to the fact that Reagan had not received, as you contended, any electoral votes at the time of the airdate. As we are all well aware in 2021, electoral votes are not cast or counted on election day. The note was added to the Archive as a result of your correction sug...
