Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Central), January 29, 2020

Got 36, at the higher end of my usual range. Thought of 3 right after time expired: Kondo, Aslan, Mulan(!!). Waffled for a moment on whether numismatics is coins or stamps; made the right choice.

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Central), April 10, 2019

I took it successfully, seemed quite difficult. I'm not sure I got 35 this time around. :? Yeah, it was tough. I average mid-30's, but I only got as many as 32 this time with a couple of lucky semi-guesses (Lisbon & Glass Menagerie) - and if they accept CHOWDER without the CLAM. (Would have been 33...

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Eastern), March 6, 2018

I agree with those who said it felt like a tough test, though I think my score was nearly as high as usual. After a slow start, I got 36 or 37 (depending on whether they accept "Elizabeth Browning").

Glad that their music focus was on a classic like Prince, rather than Cardi B or Lil Pump. :)

Re: Wednesday, January 18, 2017 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

2/3 wrote a state. Another potential win thrown away by terrible 2nd place wagering. How many missed FJs in a row by the leader is that, 16? 17? Sheesh. I got it, but it took waaaaaaay longer than it should have. I literally can't believe how many people are well-informed enough to have a bunch of ...

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Pacific), October 6, 2016

There were a couple toughies on that one, plus I had brain-fade on a few late ones (variable and contradiction). Still think I got in the high 30s/low 40s. Yeah, brain-fade is a thing. Lacked the mental energy to come up with a few gimmes, including John Brown & "oxymoron," a word I frequently use....

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Eastern), April 14, 2015

Totally clueless on the first two; I thought, "Uh-oh, here we go again." But suddenly I knew almost everything. Scored 43 for sure, plus 1 or 2 more if they take not-quite-right spellings (Aries [urgh] & Hosier). First time I've scored above mid-upper 30s in about 10 tries. (Did make round 2 once; h...

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Eastern), January 7, 2014

For the "five-angled" question, think they would accept "pentagonal"? I had "pentagon," read the question again, and added the "al" - seems to make at least as much sense.

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Eastern), January 7, 2014

I am mad that I couldn't fix my typos in Green Eggs and Ham in time :( I somehow mis-parsed the question and typed "Sam I Am" as my answer, realizing the right answer just as time expired .... and now I see I'm far from the only one who did so! Bad question (or answer or whatever-ya-call-it). ;) I ...

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Central), January 9, 2013

37, after getting 38 on my "real" test last night. Was usually around 33-34 in previous years, so I do think this year's tests have been easier. P.S. I haven't read through the entire thread, but for the "bullish group of singers", did anyone else have "buyer choir" (since "bullish" investors tend t...

I've heard that happens with Wheel of Fortune (so they don't get contestants who solve the puzzles too quickly), but I seriously doubt it happens with Jeopardy.

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Eastern), January 8, 2013

Satori: assuming the hyphen was optional in Moby-Dick... Has to be. The test rules state that they will consider partial or misspelled answers, so there's no way that they'd disqualify that. Good, I assume you're right on this one. Now I'm just hoping they accepted "eyrie". (In those few seconds, I...

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Eastern), January 8, 2013

On that last question, do you think they would accept "y" as a vowel? (It sometimes is ....)

That will determine whether I got 38 or 39 (assuming the hyphen was optional in Moby-Dick).

I must admit ... (get ready for this) ... I got #14 right with a Wilde guess!

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Eastern), January 8, 2013

Skipped a few questions; the correct answer for one of them came to me about five seconds too late. argh. Lots of instaget pop culture questions, surprised at no sports. Thinking about a 40/50 which would be my best showing of the four times I've taken the online test, and better than when I was ac...

Re: Practice for the Online Test

Thanks DOT - took this test after taking your 2013 version (and then studying for a bit), and did bump up from 29 to 32. I just need to take another practice test or two, raise my score by 3 each time, and I'll be all set for tonight! ;)

Re: Online Test -- Practice Version

Thanks for the test! Great practice, though I'm not in full test-taking mode yet. Started off hot, faded badly, got 29. Time to buckle down & learn some geography & a smidgen about old wars.

(BTW, check the spelling of the answer to #22.)

I agree, it felt easiest. I got 33 actually taking the Eastern, 34 on a simulated Central, and 37 on this one. (Wrong time zone - story of my life.)
