Re: 2020 Jeopardy North American Audition Tour

.I also wanted to ask the veterans of these boards a question I'm sure they've read a thousand times. Is there anything more I could be doing to be selected for an audition, other than simply taking the test when available? I am fully aware that there are people who have waited/been waiting much lo...

I managed a win yesterday, but damn René Lacoste and his "alligator shirts" which are actually (apparently) "crocodile shirts."
I got crocodile but asked 5 random friends what animal is on the Lacoste shirts and they all said alligator

Re: Learned League 89 - May/Jun '21

I’m not big on stats, but I’ve been playing since LL72 and I’ve never broken 100 TCA. Currently sitting at 98 TCA with one match day to go. I’ve already beaten my previous record of 96 TCA from (checks notes) LL 86, 87 and 88!

Emily's total could have been $10K higher if Sarah bet the max on DD3.
When someone’s trailing that badly and lands on the DD- what do they say? “Oh Lord!” ?! TDD- no hesitation.

Trash, trash everywhere !

Luckily, I knew Segal from The Owl and the Pussycat - but I should really pay more attention to the current events thread here

Re: Learned League 89 - May/Jun '21

I got as far as Guns and Roses, but went with Rose. Opponent gave me 0, despite my poor pop music score

I went with Rhine without much thought. That’s a weak area for me

Bad defense all around, but I won 8(4)-5(3). Relegation is still possible but unlikely

I made the Very Best Wrong Answer poll! 38. What is the specific term, borrowed from German, for the type of frozen precipitation—sometimes referred to as "snow pellets" and distinct from snow, sleet, freezing rain, or hail—which consists of soft, small ice pellets created when super-cooled water dr...

it boggles my mind why somebody would buzz in on a question just to say 'pass'.
A guess is always better than a pass, but sometimes they want to jump to the next question instead of wasting any more time.

The diary guy for the 1666 fire had TS written all over it and I expected the stumper there. I learned the guy's name many decades ago when Marcia Brady was looking for her lost diary and the store clerk got off track in citing the author. No, no, no. 17th c. diary is Pavlov for Pepys, and I was sh...

A dullish game but I'm glad Katie won more money today

A whopping total of $5k was wagered on all 3 daily Doubles

Quan started and ended DJ with $3600

I need to see video of Katie's botched pitch. I'd die if I were ever asked to do that!

I found the Society for Ethical Culture question to be an interesting one yesterday -- it didn't ring a bell for me, but a large majority of my rundle knew it. Would love to hear where people know it from! It sounded familiar- took me a minute- then I remembered walking past the building on Central...

Death in Venice usually produces stand-and-stares on Jeopardy!, so I kinda expected it to play hard

I danced around Dexter with Dieter and Rich and Drew and landed, inexplicably, on Francis

I thought for sure Katie was a goner. What a shock when she won! Good on her for making the correct final wager :) I noticed she began writing immediately and was surprised she answered incorrectly. They cut to her right at the end of the think music and you can tell she doesn't have it. I thought ...

I would have flubbed Diamond Head, Doris Kearns Goodwin and Ferdinand with close-but-no-cigar responses
