What did you guys think of the 2010s so far?
I think it's safe to say, it will likely remain my favorite decade as far as the show is concerned.

Re: Monday, April 9, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Niagara Falls is "upstate" New York? That was enough to make me clam. I would've thought "upstate" literally meant "up", as in Watertown or Saratoga Springs. In what backwards world is literally the westernmost part of the state considered "up"? The old joke is that everything north of 14th Street ...

Re: LearnedLeague 76 - Official Thread

Did pretty well this season. Wound up in the middle of B Typhoon with my highest TCA ever, tempered by a truly tough CAA. Did decent on defense. Managed to sink a full court shot and beat MaddenDavid, too, which was surprising. Not only did you beat MaddenDavid, you were also one of the only few to...

Re: LearnedLeague 76 - Official Thread

Who else put Pac-12 for Q2 of the midseason classic? I even had that moneyed. I'm impressed 23% got it right. I was a student-athlete at a Big Ten university and still blew that one! I'm also impressed 42% came up with Wesley Clark. I pondered that one all weekend and never remembered him. I...

B Typhoon, checking in.

Where I'm not exactly relishing my opportunity to play a certain MaddenDavid. :?

Re: LL64: For the LLamas Among Us

Dammit, two match days and two y(4) - x(4) defensive losses.

I think I need to start relying a little less on stats and a little more on my own sense of what's hard and what isn't, I've made a couple of dumb point assignments.

Total reflex at this point. Pretty much always have and probably always will.

Not something I ever felt like I had to practice / work on 'making myself' do. Just kind of always been How You Play the Game to me.

Re: For the LLamas Among Us

What a bummer. I was only 2 correct answers from hitting the leaderboard in GAMES/SPORT (all the questions in the last 2 seasons have been sports), and Thorsten throws a picture out there of a board game that I have never seen. Now I will have to get 9 in a row correct to hit what is the current le...

Re: For the LLamas Among Us

I reasoned through it and decided that since two perfect squares were given, their square roots must be involved in the calculation. My thought was that the geometric mean of 4 and 9 must be the area of a square with a side length halfway between those of squares with areas 4 and 9. So 2.5² = 6.25 ...

Re: For the LLamas Among Us

My closest match is RunsvoldMD. Is this 5-time Jeopardy! champion Mark Runsvold? (There are no other LL players with that last name.) Wow, a couple days of lousy matches sure put a dent in my HUNs. I have RunsvoldMD 3rd at .702 teapot 8th at .692 ToutantE in the teens somewhere ...and nobody...

Re: For the LLamas Among Us

Well, that (i.e., MD16) was brutal.

First outright whiff of my LL career.

And I still managed to be only a Michael Caine away from a 0(0) - 0(0) tie. ;)

Re: Two thoughts....

Personally I would say the second option, i.e., Larrisa Kelly style. That way you don't have "H&R Block" or "New Orleans" haunting you the rest of your life and I think it's a cooler way to leave. Although of course you might have a bad DD or something haunting you instead. Meh. That's how I went d...

Re: For the LLamas Among Us

There's a post called "Similarity Number" on the LL forum: "It'd be expressed as a percent; search through entire shared regular match day question history, +1 if both parties get a correct answer, +1 if both get an incorrect answer, 0 if the result differs, divided by the total number of questions...

I almost did that, but I misidentified one of the two popes. ...I'm guessing John XXIII? Jules et Jim was an insta-get for me because of the "Vanilla Sky" connection. I think I got it in some roundabout way from being a Pete Townshend fan... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4POBe1L8BcI
