Re: J! archive - questions about clarification notes on clues
The archive currently has a comment about the 1984 election but notes the EC hadn’t officially voted yet. While the clue writers didn’t own a crystal ball it was a poor choice given the answer could be wrong by the time the show aired. I would have put it on the November 4 episode where an election...

J! archive - questions about clarification notes on clues
I was going through some old clues on the archive and came across this FJ clue from December 4, 1984: "President elected to 2nd term with 523 electoral votes, the greatest number in any election" http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=355 The correct response was FDR, who amassed all those EV...

Re: Jeopardy! Interim Host Thread
Probably Couric and Jennings are the only actual Auditions so far. As mentioned in the video a little upthread, Bialik holds a Ph.d. in neuroscience, so I would say she checks the "gravitas" box. And having just turned 45 last month, she's the right age to have the potential for a decades-long run ...

Re: Jeopardy! Interim Host Thread
So, 6 weeks of Ken. 2 weeks of Mike Richards. One week of Katie, Bill, Aaron, Mayim. That is 12 weeks booked. Assuming those are consecutive weeks, the will need new hosts in early April. I wonder if any other former Jeopardy players will take a turn? Where was it announced that the latter four are...

Re: Hosting Question
If even a temporary hosting gig would disqualify someone from competing in future supertourneys (by virtue of having been employed by the show), I would think that would be a huge disincentive to James in particular, and maybe some others. And TPTB may not WANT people like James (and Brad) to be re...

For no. 48 (RHYME TIME, "one scrawny small equine"), I had "Skinny hinny," which I think fits the clue (rather than the apparent intended correct response of "bony pony"). Judges?

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Eastern), January 28, 2020
Playing jff, I got 46. My misses: 19. NHO "The Masked Singer." Said "Clowns" just to say something. 35. Was trying to remember E.L.'s last name, and said "Gray" instead of "James." 41. Frozen for Wicked . 47. A RTFQ error. Thought it was asking for a hunter rather than an archer, so I answered way t...

Roald Dahl's oeuvre is not a strength for me as lit goes.
I had both the Unabomber and Kaczynski.
J! was pre-empted in my area on Wednesday.

Highly unlikely. "Colossus" is a generic term for a large statue.thenextofken wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2019 7:49 pmWould they have accepted just "Colassus" on the second DD? I got that part, but if he gave me a BMS, I would've been at a loss.

I did have "the 95 theses" on Monday. "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" for the holiday song.
The Clemson clue was way, way undervalued.

Re: Friday, November 29, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Ireland was part of the UK but not of Great Britain and therefore Stoker would have been a UK citizen but not a British one. The adjective "British" refers to the UK as a whole. This may be strange and indeed controversial -- just as it's controversial that citizens of the United States are referre...

Re: Friday, November 29, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I agree with the sentiment that this FJ was an unfortunate lapse by the writers. Since Bram Stoker was Irish, Dracula , despite the fact that it was penned in London, is no more a "British" novel than The Sun Also Rises (written by Hemingway in Paris) or The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas (writte...

  :( :( :( On Wednesday's FJ I got to plastics instantly, but got stuck on Casablanca (which I sort of knew was released in 1942), not 1941, for the other movie. That clue needed more than 30 seconds. Would have been better suited to LL. David Copperfield on Fri...
