Re: Learned League 88 - Feb/Mar '21
Good end to the season for me as I got 6 correct and also went 10-1-0 in the last 11 days to jump from 16/20 up to 3/20. This was also the best of my three seasons with 99 correct answers. I thought I was decent in film trivia but in actuality it seems to be an area for improvement. I do decently in...

I came up with "Love at First Swipe" thinking of Tinder. "Meet Cute" was new to me.

Because they aren't as good at hosting Jeopardy as Trebek was.

Re: Learned League 88 - Feb/Mar '21
This teen tourney FJ sparked a bit of outrage on the old Sony board in 2004-- POPULAR FICTION: This series of over 200 books began with "Kristy's Great Idea" in 1986 ...it was described as a sort of neutron bomb meant to take out boys but not girls. I also said Newfoundland retriever, as "Newfies" ...

I'd heard the name Wendy O. Williams before but I was never going to get there. I went with GG Allin.
I think the place where I vaguely recognized her name was as a namesake of a Koopaling from Super Mario Bros: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koopaling ... _namesakes

Re: Learned League 88 - Feb/Mar '21
I managed to get 6. I only got the Modern Family one because of the recent Jeopardy clue.
I spent a lot of time trying to think of all the 19th century presidents until I re-read the question and found that it was basically just asking for the president who served non-consecutive terms.

71% correct leaguewide on yesterday's match. That has to be up there for highest ever, I would guess.

Re: Learned League 88 - Feb/Mar '21
I got stuck trying to come up with a name for a twenty-sided shape and missed "cube" haha I also went with "preserve", as in a wildlife preserve, and was pretty happy with that guess at the time. This is a weird season for me. I'm first in my B rundle for correct answers....and 15th in the standings...

Re: Learned League 88 - Feb/Mar '21
I fell into the Gavrilo Princip trap for the Tito question. The birthyear, the Austria-Hungary clue, and "revolutionary". Looking back, I have seen before that Tito's name was Josip, but it wasn't familiar enough to point me away from Princip. Anyone else go with Trump for the teflon question yester...

Anyone else go with Trump for the teflon question yesterday?
I didn't think that's what the question was going for but it almost fits so I went with it.

Another Notre Dame. After the fire I remember being shocked at how early construction had begun on it (1163, not that I remembered this date during FJ last night) so I had my doubts on my guess.

Re: Learned League 88 - Feb/Mar '21
Frustrating season so far. I have the most correct answers in my group but am sitting 17/20. Sure, I could be playing better defence but still a lot of bad luck involved, I think. I went with Oregon Territory for the Alaska question. I should have known it but I got stuck on thinking it was acquired...

Did anyone else think the TV category was a bit of a killer for the Jeopardy round?
It required knowing a lot of character names instead of actors. I only got the Breaking Bad clue. Silicon Valley came to mind but I wasn't nearly confident enough to have rung in.

I thought Dostoyevsky worked closer to the turn of the century than he apparently did. Wasn't familiar with the details of the title Crime anyways. Went with London to have something.
Tuesday I guessed Delaware.

Can we all agree to getting rid of the Monopoly board colours from the trivia rotation? Thanks lol Today's guest did have better presentation. Though I don't blame the other presenters this week. It's on a producer to give notes on the speed and emphasis when reading the clues. And yesterday the doc...

Maybe this was known but Ken says he can see the contestants' wagers and responses to Final Jeopardy as they are made. It makes sense as Alex would often say something like "I fear X struggled with this one" or "began writing immediately" This video below has a segment at the end that wasn't on the ...

I was reminded of Yoshie's contestant interview just a minute ago as I was doing today's LA Times crossword.
A familiar answer came up in "Air Pod"
