Re: SHC Round 5 Instant Replay Thread {SPOILERS}

This is why I write trivia games for people who are smarter than me. 12-point RQ in "Hebrew Words & Phrases" coming with R5D4 post later this afternoon. Don't be too hard on yourself, DoT. As someone who writes tests for a living, I can tell you that to produce one devoid of errors or ambiguity req...

Re: SHC Round 5 Instant Replay Thread {SPOILERS}

Excellent discussion, OSC. One quibble: the Jewish calendar is properly a lunisolar calendar as it attempts to reconcile the periodicity of a lunar calendar with the length of the solar year. To add a bit more trivia to this discussion, the Julian calendar of the Romans evolved from an earlier solar...

Re: SHC Round 4 Instant Replay Thread (SPOILERS)

Although, truth to tell, I was always more a Blue Oyster Cult kind of guy. Not surprising, as their collective IQ would, I would hazard, dwarf that of any configuration of Black Sabbath or any of Ozzy's bands. Not that intelligence necessarily translates to good music, but it surely doesn't hurt. ;)

Re: SHC Round 5 Instant Replay Thread {SPOILERS}

Wow, I thought it definitely couldn't be Degas for the last question, because I didn't examine the clue close enough. I eliminated him because he'd sold plenty of paintings while alive...but none of those to museums, apparently. I almost fell for the same trap, Sue/Suze/Susie/Susan :mrgreen: My ini...

Re: SHC Round 5 Instant Replay Thread {SPOILERS}

Back in the alternate reality that is SHC, I just want to say thanks for the Doctor Who category today. My daughter and I have only recently discovered the good Doctor, and we have now worked our way through the past six seasons. I could never get into the show as a child, given the mediocre writin...

SHC Round 5 Instant Replay Thread {SPOILERS}

Since there's isn't one already... I see that several people have answered Aviv for the 12 pointer today. There was a Biblical month named Abib that fits the description, but DoT was asking for Hebrew months, yes? And in the modern Hebrew calender, the month that Passover falls on is Nissan, not Abi...

I suffer from a neurological condition where I sometimes repeat repeat words. Surely DoT won't penalize me for that? (Yeah, an illness, that's that's the ticket...)
No, Bruce, that's the tic. :D

Re: SHC Round 4 Instant Replay Thread (SPOILERS)

My math doesn't even make sense, but that's really all it was! ::Jeopardy cred destroyed:: I did worse: I misread the freakin' farkin' question and answered...
