Re: Friday, January 8, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
If Millionaire sticks around for another season what money level would it be: Who was the last champion of the Alex Trebek era of Jeopardy! ? A: Jim Grant B: Jim Gilligan C: Jim Howell D: Jim Summers To me it would not work at all unless a "Bob Denver" hint was added. I was thinking earlier in the ...

Benjamin Franklin for me.
I really love the roman numeral math category. I imagine it would be tough to deal with some of those under the lights. I was only able to get two of them in the same reaction time as the contestants. It felt like I needed an extra 5 seconds on the others.

Michael caught a break when Lizard could not solve the quite gettable FJ! clue and it led to riches and more appearances. Well, it is not as if Lizard showed much confidence in himself by wagering to guarantee second if he missed rather than a win if he was right. Lizard would have won by $12,599 i...

Appreciated the re-airing of this game, since I missed all of Ken's original run due to living in a black hole for TV reception back then.

I guessed Sydney Opera House at about the 25 second mark. The year just seemed about right.
Opus, thanks so much for the tip. Kate was one of my favorite contestants of this season, and I was furious about the preemption.

Re: Movie title questions
I question the writers' assertion that the film title How Green Was My Valley is a question. Not only is there no question mark in the title (as there were in the category's other correct responses), but also the phrase is not expressed as a query in the film. It's an expression of fond remembrance...

Re: Friday, December 11, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Kristen was a delightful contestant so it was tough to see her blow what should have been a default win on a TS Final. On the other hand, I warmed to Kate when it was revealed that she was a hockey fan/player. And she has such a calm demeanor and confidence when she responds to clues. I'm looking fo...

So evidently, Fred's wagering theory is to presume his nearest opponent will wager what he himself should wager, in order to cover said opponent.
For the nth time this week, 2nd or 3rd place screwed the pooch for any chance to win on a TS.

Re: Wednesday, November 25, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
"Academy Award in 1988" was all I needed for FJ. Yeah, isn't it a thing for all J! hopeful boardies to have the Best Film/Actor/Actress, etc. mostly memorized? At least up to the turn of the century. I had to re-read the clue to make sure they were going for best actress. It was worded kind of awkw...

For MA I took a guess with no real knowledge. Different place, but I was linking physics, so science, "like MIT?" to risk it as I had a 16.67% chance. On that clue, I conflated Robert Goddard with Mark Goddard of Lost In Space . I happened to know that after his TV career, Mark G had been a teacher...

Re: Wednesday, November 18, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Andy can wipe his brow after getting past that game with Deanna playing well. It's hard to fault her for not betting huge on DD3 as so few players would go as high as she ended up needing for a lock. Given Andy's wager, all she had to do was bet $0 on FJ. But how can you know a thing like that? And...

Re: Wednesday, November 11, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
A ton of LT up for grabs, but shy of the 17600 needed to win from the 4th podium. Actually, the 4th podium would only need 10001 after DJ to win with a correct FJ response. Doug didn't even bet the max he could have (6699) to keep Daniella locked out, but he still would have shot down Greg on a R-W...

I'm hoping they will decide to allow tie games again in the near future.talkingaway wrote: They seem to be allowing shout-outs creep back into the FJ! responses. Honestly, expand the screen vertically and split it into thirds: Response, shoutout, and wager.

When the players did not solve clue 1 for "roll out the..." that kind of indicated how the game would go. Precisely what I was thinking, real time. Shortly afterwards, Carlos guesses 'Hey Jude' for Drive My Car , and the girls draw a blank. The writing was on the wall for Kristin to flame out after...

I thought it sounded like Aaron did not beat the buzzer on the first DD. Was expecting a reversal. Spring the trap door on all three contestants for not knowing Bill Murray was greens keeper Carl.
