Re: Tuesday, March 17, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Yesterday, I had my back turned on the TV for most of the game, so I did not notice how much Sid looked like a bispectacled Clint Eastwood. All he needs is a wide brimmed hat, a poncho and a blunt between his teeth. Little did Sid know that he could have secured the win with a $2 final wager, so lon...

Re: FJs for the 3/2/20 week

I watched the Burt Lancaster version of Dr. Moreau on TV one late night, over forty years ago.
I seem to remember there was some catch phrase that the 'beings' chanted over and over neer the end of the movie.

The FJ clue rang no bells until after it was revealed.

Re: Tuesday, March 3, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Shame to see Bruce go out so early; he was a fun contestant! I liked him too. He showed a pretty decent depth of knowledge for his age. It's a shame he got picked off by a tough FJ. The two challengers were solid players and easy to root for. This was one of those rare games that I wish the tie gam...

I got this FJ with no difficulty. Although I did briefly consider migrant workers.

If I could have been close enough, I would have whispered to him to wager $2598 instead of $401. Hardly any extra risk involved, and he still keeps third place locked out.

Re: the champion's wager

Maybe she figured she had already won five games and was not worried about absolutely maximizing her chances of winning another? Perhaps you meant absolutley maximizing her winnings ($) in the event she gets it correct and Steve is wrong? In that case, I would argue that in both of her lock games s...

Re: Monday, February 24, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

The clue had me match MacKenzie and Jennifer for being right while during think time I wondered if any players would guess Elvis or even Merle Haggard. It was not the kind of clue I knew, knew, though I felt like I was taking the best guess. I think either Jerry Lee Lewis or Chuck Berry would've be...

Re: Tuesday, February 18, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I brainfarted on Manson - only got as far as "the cult leader in the Leo/Brad movie that was nominated for an Oscar this year". That reminds me: The clue asked for the man, person specific, but Caitlin (?) responded with "the Manson family". I kinda thought that needed a BMS, if not an outright neg.

Re: Tuesday, February 18, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Surprised that MacKenzie ripped through the first few Religious Idioms but couldn't get the DD. It seemed just as easy.

Then there was the TS on Valerie B's husband and Jane Curtin.

I was wondering if Caitlin might be related to Bobby Jon from Survivor S10

Re: Friday, February 14, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

ETA: Brooke nodded on the Westminster DD, so she might have won the game had she found that important DD3 Perhaps so, being that she had the sole get. After seeing how she wagered on FJ (and on yesterday's FJ), I'm not confident she would have made an optimal wager, had she been within 2/3 of Terry...

Re: Tuesday, February 11, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Just when I was thinking "oh cool, Kristyna didn't make the usual all-in suicide wager!", here comes Danyelle's nonsensical wager. Somewhere, someone watching at home will think to themselves "if only Kristyna had bet it all!" *sigh* Though I'd have a lot more sympathy for her if she hadn't bet 100...

Re: Thursday, February 6, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I predicted Travis would wager more than 3000, to guard against a zero wager from Patrick. In doing so, he kills his hope of winning with an incorrect response. Second time he makes that choice and third time he lets third place back in the hunt for more prize money. Too bad Cherisa held back more t...

Re: Monday, February 3, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

For Arizona's state firearm I said "six-shooter." According to Wikipedia, it's actually a Colt Single Action Army revolver with "a revolving cylinder holding six metallic cartridges." I said 6-shooter as well. I'm all but certain 'six-shooter' was the intended response. I spaced out the category an...

I found myself wondering if Audrey could possibly have been serious when she asked AT whether she might change her DD bet after she saw a clue she clearly didn't know the answer to. Re: Thursday, January 30, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

So you either push all-in and maximize your *Gilbert voice* "one day cash winnings" for when he DOES get it wrong, or you hold back some depending on whether you want the extra $1000 for coming in second. I guess 4500 is okay, but 5000 is better. Even better; 9199 would still insure second place, s...

Serious FJ! overwager! Martian, yes. Overwager? Nope. In fact there was still room for more with just as much safety. Furthermore, if anyone's wager was was less than optimal, it was Sarah's. She needed to get a correct response to reach Joshua's fallback amount, so why stop at $22,801? That left o...

I had a hunch Veronica wouldn't survive past the end of the week. Each game she played, her championship standing seemed more the result of quick buzzer reflex + soft competition, rather than depth of knowledge. Dennis makes a minor chassis adjustment and whistles right past her. Lindsay could have ...
