Re: Thursday, July 4, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

never knew amadeus was a broadway production It's not just a Broadway production, (opened in London first) it's brilliant theatre. It came out several years before the movie, and...well, people can wiki it if they're interested, (below) I'm just a big fan of the play. I'll give the movie credit - t...

Re: Friday, July 5, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Don't forget that category was FEMALE SINGERS MONONYMOUS, so it wasn't going to be anyone we refer to by a first and last name. (I still kneejerked Joan Baez on the bottom clue like Jim did, though.) Only other British singer I can think of who went by one name was Lulu (probably too old for most p...

Re: TD 425: O-H-I-O (Final Standings Posted!)

Thanks for the fun game! I really liked how you started with an Ohio fact, then segued into more general (less localized ) trivia on most questions. Really glad I used my drop where I did - it would have cost me several points with a too-common answer. Congrats to the podium! I, having lesser expect...

Re: Monday, July 1, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Ended up with Antarctica, counted the letters wrong, concentrated on the dry land vs. non-dry land (ice, iow) part of the clue and thought they were being clever with the phrasing. Oops. Even if I had managed to get clear of thinking I'd deciphered the clue, I would not have come up with Polynesia. ...

Re: Season 36 Changes & Predictions

The first show of the new season will air Sept. 9. I'm taping July 23, and it will air Sept 16-20. You're going to be on Jeopardy!? Congratulations!!! :D Have you been working on your weak categories? Oh, yeah. Geography, Roman and Greek Mythology, and music from the 90s onward are all rough. I'm k...

Re: Season 36 Changes & Predictions

Heck, maybe one VERY MINOR flaw in James’ game is that he would hit the DD on his first clue call It may be minor but that's arguably what did him in. I think the biggest flaw in James's gameplay was that he played too conservatively. Yes, seriously. He made too few mistakes, and that did him in. H...

I should add I was at the West Palm Beach Audition May 8 (noted on page 1), if that helps inform on the timing of the process.

Good luck and congrats on Columbus, guys!

Re: Your Screenname: What inspired it?

I missed this thread when I first signed up. My name is for my 2 dogs of that time, and the Q in the middle is because I find it (sourly) amusing that, when picking up a prescription for a dog at a regular pharmacy, a veterinarian will insert a Q as a middle initial to identify the scrip is for a pe...

Re: Monday, June 3, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

You know, I just don't get this smart wager theory. Yeah, he locked out the third guy with his bet to lock in what... a GRAND? The guy's won over two mil and he's worried about a grand? This guy has continually preached about playing with house money and he's fiddling over second vs. third? If he b...

Re: Thursday, May 23, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Some might find this interesting. Another board I'm on does a lot of math analysis of games, and we've been discussing James' run. The WizardofOdds broke down Nate's 2nd DD bet versus what James and Nate would have to bet at the end, and discusses the game theory at some length, along with several o...

Re: So...what have we learned so far from James Holzhauer?

Is it fair to notice that the discussion in this thread has gone seriously downhill the last dozen posts? I think pretty highly of you folks, though I don't post much, and am surprised at the petty nature of the conversation atm. I've learned that James has shown that it's possible to break down and...

Re: Jeopardy taping three tournaments in D.C.

Is anyone else disappointed that these "Power Players" are always American or current US residents? How awesome would a Stephen Harper v. Rick Mercer v. Ken Kowalski episode be? Or Christopher Eccleston vs David Tennant vs Peter Capaldi? (Sorry, Matt Smith. I had to make a cut somewhere.) This coul...
