Re: Monday, November 27, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]
Getting half of FJ! right seems to be the thing to do. I went with Black Forest, trying to think of what the other B was. Not the worst guess, not the best. "Commander in Chief" was wrong, but would "election of the Commander in Chief" have been counted? I was trying to figure out a way to get "comm...

For some reason, Wheel of Fortune aired late at night here, which usually happens when it's interrupted earlier, but not Jeopardy! I don't remember that happening before. Wonder if it was a one-time mistake, or if they just aren't going to show Jeopardy! if sports interrupt anymore.

There's a difference between not knowing rules exist, and knowing but not liking the rules. The complaining is loud, but it's ultimately not a big deal. If it makes people feel better to vent, there's no harm in letting them vent.

I just checked, and it took me 24 seconds to write it down large on a sheet of paper. In my experience, light pens can be finicky at times, so I don't even know if I could've written that whole thing down in time even if I instagot it, which I didn't (had to go through all the Beatles albums).

Was today easy, or just me? Usually when I breeze through the J! round, I find DJ! extra difficult, but not only did I find DJ! easy today, but even FJ!, which it seems most of you agree that was really easy, at the very least.
Now if I could just do that consistently, I'd be golden

Restaurateur? I actually thought there was a decent chance that could be it. It's only in hindsight that I noticed the significance of the name of the town.
I will never remember how to pronounce "acai," though I'm pretty certain I'd have been counted as right for it.

Re: Daily Double Distribution Discoveries
including having two in the same category I've actually been curious about this for a while: in the history of the show, has there ever been an instance where both daily doubles in Double Jeopardy! have been in the same category? Is it something that's merely incredibly rare, like a daily double in...

"Adhesive bandage is a generic term; Band-Aid is this type of name, or a "name" type of this." Would proprietary eponym have been accepted? No, because Band-Aid is not an eponym, unless it was named after somebody like Joe Band-Aid. Band-Aid isn't an eponym, but it is a proprietary eponym, a "gener...

"Adhesive bandage is a generic term; Band-Aid is this type of name, or a "name" type of this." Would proprietary eponym have been accepted? It doesn't have "name" exactly in the phrase, but otherwise fits the clue. Not sure if "name" in quotes would exclude it from being correct. Does anybody else f...

Re: Wednesday, October 18, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]
I made the same faulty connection that Chelsea did, making the connection from smallpox to the chickenpox vaccine. Looking up the year for that, I was surprised just how relatively recent that came about. I think the word "breakthrough" is what led me astray. It doesn't seem quite like the right wor...

Yeah, that. Briefly flirted w/pets.com, but even the dot.coms didn't make that kind of money in their heyday. I fell into the dot.com trap. "Rich in 2000, bankrupt in 2001" made my mind race straight to the different dot.com companies, and ultimately went with pets.com. As nicely as the dot.coms fi...

That Geico plug at the end of the show was bad. It's obvious the word "Geico" was spliced in there. I'm not sure why they didn't just have Johnny reread the whole sentence instead of inserting one mismatched word into the plug.

I went with Priscilla Presley for FJ! because I totally misread the clue, but it's my favorite way to get an answer wrong, at least! Kinda' a shame neither of the other wrong contestants made my mistake

Preventative and preventive may be used as adjectives more often, but they can both be nouns, too.seaborgium wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2017 8:25 pmNo, I still would have worked in how some people seem to have trouble recognizing a noun's definition as such.

Re: Monday, September 25, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]
No definition beginning with "an action" will be defining anything but a noun. "Preventive," "preemptive," and "preventative" all describe the action in the definition quite well ("precautionary" too, for that matter), but none of them are or could be defined as such an action. Preventive and preve...

The $400 pre clue was atrocious. Why was there no reversal there? Clue might as well have been "The number I'm thinking of between 1 and 10."

It didn't even occur to me that the character might not be an animal, and I was surprised none of the contestants went that route with the question. I picked Rocket Raccoon.

I mostly got FJ! because Royal Crown was the only cola I could think of that seemed to make any sense for a whisky brand. Whatever works works, I guess
