Re: TD 347 - Potpourri 100 (Q1 - Q8 revealed)

4 SHEEPS in 8 questions...that has to be nearing some kind of percentage record and not a good recipe for success. I went back and checked the ones that I have hosted - some have hit 6 sheep in 10 questions (although those all included at least 1 co-sheep) and one went 5 for 10 without any co-sheep...

How does one get into Learned League? Looks like a referral system of some sort?

Re: Wednesday, June 7, 2017 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Wilmette is a wealthy suburb of Chicago, it's a Pavlov for anyone originally from the Midwest. I'm with TPH on that one. I've never heard of that place before today and it certainly didn't help that we didn't get a spelling. I would say that was a seriously undervalued clue. I've heard of Wilmette,...

For reference, here's the barley clue again: THE GOODNESS OF BARLEY INCLUDES BEING THE SOURCE OF THIS PARTLY FERMENTED PRODUCT USED IN THE BREWING OF BEER So malt and wort were both acceptable. What about my guess of mash? I wouldn't think so. Mashing is process of soaking the malt and I don't thin...

Re: June 1, 2017 Adult Online Test Discussion (Pacific)

Count me as one who thought this was the easiest. This week I got 34, 33, and 39, with the 33 on the one that counted. This test I feel like if you watched the others and/or recent J! episodes it helped a ton as I got verdi after knowing wednesdays was puccini (which I missed) and Linnaeus has been ...

Re: May 31 2017, Adult Online Contestant Test Discussion (Central)

32 for me I think. I struggled with faking myself out on this one, as I instantly thought of Haley, Magellan, Rikki Tikki Tavi and then discarded all of them, and lost coin flips with Firestarter (after writing Carrie first), julius caesar, and Cotton Club. Doesn't help that I missed 6 of the 9 lit ...

I live in NH and couldn't even pull our most recent governor, and was only pretty sure of the Arizona Governor.... Oh and then I was going to go with Lita, but then thought, thats got to be the easiest name to decode so lets go with a little stranger trish stratus. Who knew there were so many wrestl...

can't believe Tom Selleck was a singleton, he was the only name on the list I was sure of and was sure he'd be sheep or close to it. I've watched Monk and Colombo but I couldn't pull Tony Shaloub or Peter Falk out of the back of my brain, and had not heard of most of the other characters although af...

Re: TD 341 - The dirty dozen

Thanks, classicroadster, I feel better about dinging you with a wrong answer with your consent. Only fair...whats unfortunate for me was the first 2 names that popped in my head were Peter and Paul. Put Paul down without really thinking anything of it, never thought he wasn't an apostle. Peter woul...

Re: TD 341 - The dirty dozen

I'm not a biblical scholar (obviously since I was the one who answered Paul), but I don't think it should count as correct. According to wikipedia, Paul was not one of the 12 original apostles and also it doesn't appear he "became" Paul (and not Saul) until after Jesus' death and resurrection. At le...

Re: Is Sports Jeopardy done?

as one who is swimming in the SJ pool with 7 months or so remaining, I hope they start taping more episodes soon. I believe the last taping was in July 16, and no one from Boston area was a contestant. My audition in Boston was in June 16.

Re: Timing of Audition Invite Emails

I passed the online quiz in October. For me to take the quiz scheduled for the end of may would be: a. redundant; can't hurt but can't help; or b. prohibited; might get me booted from the pool; or c. quite all right; nothing to be gained or lost; or d. encouraged; passing again might help. What do ...

What's the record for number of sheep/co-sheep? I am 4 for 4, can make plenty of wool sweaters with that!
On a recent TD, I got 8 sheep and 2 wrong out of 11 answers....

I had Amityville Horror for FJ. I got discus, but would the hammer have worked, based on the phrasing of the answer? I'd lean towards no based on the modern version of the hammer throw. You need two hands to hold it in the first place, and the hold involves the full palm of the hand. You're not hol...

Here were what I thought the sheeps for Q's 2-10 were going to be. I'm already 0/1 in predicting them, and will probably continue to be wrong. 2. Ohio 3. 8G 4. Bill Guthridge 5. Washington, DC (based on JT3's reputation of losing to really low seeds) 6. WCC 7. North Carolina 8. C 9. Maryland 10. Br...

Food & Drink for $200 could've been literally any soft drink company. Even a "go for the obvious" doesn't work, because that makes it a coinflip on Coke/Pepsi at best. Then with something that old, it could've just as easily been Dr Pepper, 7-Up, Cheerwine, Moxie... They are not going to ask about ...

Re: Is Sports Jeopardy done?

I hope SJ isn't done, I auditioned in Boston in June '16. No one from Boston area has been on the episodes posted thus far. Their site still indicates in hiatus and check back in April. I'm hoping they are just letting the episodes catch up to those on TV, since they are still only airing early seas...
