Re: Learned League 85 - Official Thread
Olympic group 71 is tough. Through 3 days, 4 players with 15 or more TCA and a poor guy who is 0-3 with 14 TCA and 17 CAA. I'm in first with 15 but should really be 17 as I sped through questions on day 2 and only put fosbury and 1918 instead of 1916 without thinking. First place for now. Also had m...

Re: Learned League 85 - Official Thread
Just looked at my ML Olympic Games group 71...quite the murderers row with 6 or 7 people over .725 sports scores... Yikes, going to be tough to advance

Re: Private Rundle option for LL86 C/D/E players
You know I'm in....already signed up Thanks for doing this. So as not to forget like I did last season (oops) I created the "open private" rundle: all who are reading this who are llamas at the Premier membership level or above are welcome to join. Private rundles give you a second opponent each day...

Re: Learned League 85 - Official Thread
Also congrats to the 12FootBoy for being the 77th unluckiest Llama in Season 85! I only got 77th? Is this a real thing? I noticed how my Correct Answers Allowed (this should be "against" as noted earlier) was an outlier in my lowly D rundle. I even did the math and it was about 2.5 standard deviati...

Re: Learned League 85 - Official Thread
are the results of the voting up yet? Speaking of up -- look up. ;) https://learnedleague.com/hist/awards/85.php Here are the top 5 BWAs. The winner would've been much better, in my eyes, had it been only a single word (since that's what the question asked for). Thought the one that got 2nd was rea...

Re: Learned League 85 - Official Thread
Anticlimactic last few days as I had clinched remaining in C after MD23 but ended my worst defensive season with a 5(3)-5(3) tie. My opponents worst categories were film and pop music. Gave him 3 on film and 1 on pop music which he of course got the film one and missed the Pop Music. Who doesn't kno...

Re: Learned League 85 - Official Thread
With my 5(3)-(0) win yesterday I will also stay in C another season...I read the lakes question as asking for US lakes with great in the name so I did go with Great Salt Lake; Great Bear Lake came to mind but I discounted it as a non-US lake. My LL goals are to stay in C, over 75 TCA, and to set a n...

Re: Learned League 85 - Official Thread
Horrible defense in my match yesterday, a 6(4)-6(4) tie. My opponent had a poor Classical Music and Theater Q% but got Britten and tech, while missing Snoop/Martha and pigeon. Thanks to having kids I got pigeon and tech (I prefer the elephant and piggie books and they are dancers so I'm familiar wit...

Re: Learned League 85 - Official Thread
Another not great day for me. Read through the questions, knew none for sure. Ended up getting Joker and Liberia only. The whiz kids one briefly I though of Ford but stuck with the Army Air Force side and went with Boeing although the whole McNamara/Sec of Def thing did make me think of military rel...

Re: Learned League 85 - Official Thread
Man, what a brutal last 3 days. I'd managed to get 3 and 2 right on Friday and Monday, but it caught up with me yesterday. Only got Rock Star after I lost the flip on Westie/Weimeraner as W dog breeds I could think of and I've been playing too much geoguessr lately where Bhutan is the only Asian mou...

Ska was my guess with no confidence...I also missed EarthSea, never heard of it. Won 6(5)-3(3), staying middle of the pack in my C rundle. This Is Kirk! wrote: ↑Fri Jun 12, 2020 11:36 amLast yesterday 6(5)-9(5). My opponent missed the ska question despite pop music being his second best category! I missed Earthsea.

and Tuesday's Jeopardy!, which I didn't get to until Friday evening because I'm currently working again, dropped exactly the same information about the Musee D'Orsay as Thorsten did. I wondered how Meggie got this and how it was in a middle row clue. It doesn't seem that famous unless you are an ar...

Re: Learned League 85 - Official Thread
Bad loss yesterday 2(3) - 3(3) when I didn't take enough time to remember that pate does not equal foie gras. I grew up in a french canadian household and the words foie gras were never spoken, only pate, so I consider them interchangeable. Would've been a nice 2 points for the win...

Re: Learned League 85 - Official Thread
Yesterday was my first 0(0) since LL82. I thought of Judas Priest for the band and knew that it was a group that Beavis and Butt-Head liked, but I seemed to remember that there was a question on Judas Priest not too long ago and guessed Iron Maiden. Its my 12th season in LL, and for whatever reason...

Re: Learned League 85 - Official Thread
... I was torn between Cambodia and Laos, but went with my first answer. It was a headscratcher when I saw that people thought Congress prohibited ground troops in Vietnam (and it would have required a North or South), but I guess they were just grasping at straws on that one. A question that clear...

45% for Jojo whoever the hell that is, and only 79% for Cheers?!? I have a 8 year old daughter. That question could not have been easier. JoJo Siwa was on Lip Sync Battle Shorties, this season of The Masked Singer, and now is part of Celebrity Watch Party. C'mon, those are your kind of shows, right...

I totally misunderstood the first question and answered with all 3...I wish he'd clarified with "part of the trio" or something like that because on reading the question it sounded like il brutto was the translation of the whole title. I couldn't pull Chagalls name out of my brain, Chopin kept getti...

Re: Learned League 85 - Official Thread
Yesterday was probably the most upset at myself I've been in 12 seasons in LL. I forgot to put in an answer that was not only right but would've given me a tie. I went through the questions and knew the players and Johnson right off. I do my defense. I look again at Q1, thought, thats the murder bee...

When you consider Espo, Orr, Hull and Ovechkin and then go with... Fedorov. My list to consider was: Hull, Espo, Dionne, Ovechkin, Jagr, Kurri, Lafleur, Andreychuck, Modano....had Hull typed in the box for a long time and changed last minute to Lafleur...which was super dumb as I was pretty sure Ja...
