Re: Jeopardy! show improvement poll

My suggestion (originally made on the old Sony boards): Create a separate series called "Tournament Jeopardy!", 46 weeks of nothing but special tournaments, including new ones such as an Armed Forces Tournament, fan-voted Favorites Tournaments, a Giants vs. Giant Killers Tournament, etc. Limited on...

Re: Jeopardy! show improvement poll

Wholeheartedly agree. Based on this thread I signed up for Sony Studio Insiders yesterday and then today was given the opportunity to complete the survey. One of the questions asked me what I particularly liked about Jeopardy! Two of my points, in shortened form: it's consistent and doesn't have a ...

Re: Jeopardy! show improvement poll

(*if we're throwing out ideas with no care as to if they're adopted or not, the value doubling did remind me that I"ve always thought the reward in J!, both for the winners and the second and third place, are woefully small compared to other game shows. increasing those would be nice (and would be ...

Re: Jeopardy! show improvement poll

I'm going the other way than many of you on this Daily Double auction process. I think it's a terrible idea, no matter which variation you choose. To me, it seems rather gimmicky and has a rather "jump the shark" feel to it. Part of the current J! strategy is to find DDs and then wager either high o...

Re: Wednesday, June 11, 2014 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Sari is one the rabbis at the synagogue we attend and would not be an answer to "someone who has not been in my kitchen". Neat -- I am good friends with Doug Gordon, Leora Kaye's husband. Certainly know them both. In fact, my family went on a trip to Israel a few years ago that Leora & Doug (and th...

Re: About Coryats

Can you even pass the test with less than $40K? I hope you're joking, Mike. Averaging $40K put you in the running for a decent run. If you're not joking, you're out of touch with more typical contestants who get on the show. Note that a $40K Coryat means that you could answer the entire DJ! board e...

Re: Wednesday, June 11, 2014 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

I did watch Thursday's show before I made this post, but I honestly did feel (before I saw his second show) that he went for the ever popular big round number wager. My post was written mentally before I saw Thursday's episode. What is so interesting (as Alex put it) about a rabbi naming her son af...

Re: Wednesday, June 11, 2014 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

I never knew his name until he died a few years ago (in his 90s) and I noticed his obituary. He had such an interesting name and was responsible for such memorable voices that I figured he'd be fodder for trivia questions for years to come. On J!, I doubt he will be the required response to a clue, ...

Re: Wednesday, June 11, 2014 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

From my uninformed perch, it seems the winner made a savvy wager? but maybe that's just my "it's a good wager because it won the game" bias, I'm sure the Vikings can set me straight and sacrifice this naive virgin to their god Wagor. I'm not one for sacrificing virgins, but.... I wonder what about ...

Re: Wednesday, June 11, 2014 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

I wish I could press the buzzer as fast as I could answer this FJ. Actually, make it "as fast as I could answer all three of this week's FJs". I wonder what people find confusing in the wording, and how they would reword it to be less confusing. Not sure they can make it less confusing. It is unamb...

Re: Wednesday, June 11, 2014 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Entertaining game, a lot of it, I think, because it was fairly easy all around (the zodiac category was basically "can you name the zodiac"). I got FJ almost immediately, but it's hard as @#$! to stand up there and process that stuff with the clock bearing down on you. I like the rabbi a) because I...

ACW wrote:Australia was easy, but I was thinking AustralIA, RussIA.
That's the direction I was going for the first 15 seconds. Then I got the "D'oh" moment and changed to Canberra and Ankara flowed easily. It might have helped a bit that we just booked a trip to Istanbul for later this summer.

Re: Wednesday, June 11, 2014 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Sari is one the rabbis at the synagogue we attend and would not be an answer to "someone who has not been in my kitchen". As to wagering, the leader's wager was silly. Wagering another $400 for the tie was clear. Sari was in an interesting position, of course. She could wager $0 or bet enough to loc...

Re: Timing of Audition Invite Emails

Has anybody heard anything still yet about auditions in Philadelphia? I had heard Dr. J say during the webinar that the Philadelphia auditions were being held at the end of the month. I wonder what Dr. J's source was and if her source was really serious when he/she made the comment. It's now June 1...

Here are a few of my pet peeves about Alex: 1) The contestants are working down a category and then one of them switches to another category. When they finally return to the first category if it turns out the next clue contains a DD, Alex often says something like, "I was wondering why you went awa...
