It's a double corruption. The name of the game was supposed to be monkey kong but they got it wrong in translation.
Wrong. "Donkey" was meant to convey stubbornness and/or stupidity.

Re: Jeopardy! history question

Elise Beraru, the first ever 5x champion, was either 24 or 25 when she was first on the show. Leslie seemed to be either 26 or 27, assuming she graduated high school at 18 years old. It's amazing what you can find with a simple google search. I think you were too credulous of the first result you f...

Eddie got a tone in the UToC (not his ToC). I don't think Dave Oberhart did (before the UToC).
How about Kerri Regan (Teen Tournament right before UToC)?

The 1991 Teen Tournament QFs have been archived.

Last wild card: Maggie Large, $9,800 (up from $5,800, FJ 3/3)
Highest score eliminated: Chris Beckner, $9,701 (up from $8,700, FJ 2/3)

Also, I'm with you being unsure Robert says Goldman. It does sound like there's another consonant after the D, but Robert doesn't appear to close his lips where the M would be. It's ambiguous enough that I won't recommend changing it at the moment. In quickly researching to see whether I could dete...

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

I remember that FJ. I was preparing to offer a correction on the tossed clue, and then I looked behind it. How unfortunate that Chris Beckner apparently missed out on a wild card by $99. (I say "apparently" because for all I know, the Friday game, from which all three players made the semis, makes t...

Re: Wednesday, May 1, 2002 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Bob didn't give much (strategy) thought to his final wager. I'm puzzled that he didn't bet the extra $201 to outscore Rachael, in the event he needed a wildcard spot. From what I recall of Bob's book, he doesn't have much to say about wagering strategy. So I suspect he's clueless on this point and ...

I added 2/11/91: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=4763 What's the deal with Alex's exchange with Robert in FJ? It seems like Alex is reacting to something Robert wrote in addition to his response that hasn't been transcribed. It was unusual with remarks in the FJ! round going back to D...

Re: Wednesday, May 1, 2002 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Sorry to interrupt, theFJGuy, but I just wanted to point out that the exchange between Alex and Frank on clue 1, as seen in the Archive, is from tapes of the original broadcast. That exchange has been edited out of some rebroadcasts and may not appear on today's airing. So the "mass corrector" can ...

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

Reverse the order of the FJ! clues in the finals and it may be that Hansford wins. From the pre-FJ positions, Leonard was the one who (quote-unquote) should have come out on top in a triple stumper, but he got very lucky. From my two-day wagering suggestions thread: Hansford: 10200 8900 19100 28000...

I added 7/17/92: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6790 MOVIE SEQUELS $600 is missing a closing quotation mark. For RHYME TIME $500, "Late columnist Wilson's witticisms," the first word for "witticisms" I could think of was "quips," so I took a stab with "Flip's quips." Not only was Fli...

I added 7/16/92: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6789 In BODIES OF WATER $500 you've misspelled the response. More on the judgment call side of things, I'd capitalize the first letter of the abbreviation in ABBREVIATIONS $100. I remember seeing the GU postal code clue when it aired.

Hooray, Zviad Gamsakhurdia gets a second mention in J! Archive! (Previously he was only in the 2000 ToC, where, absurdly even for a ToC, the players were expected to name him.

DJ DD1 has "s" for "is."
