If there's a poll question for having never heard of Waitress I'll be checking it.
Ditto, in either incarnation.

Also, not sure if they made a correction, but her last name is HasselbEck, not HasselbAck.

It was a bright day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen. ... bright cold day ... I'd also throw in two of my favorites: "This is my favorite book in all the world, though I have never read it." "Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of th...

90% sure the first time I encountered "it was a dark and stormy night" was an episode of Star Trek but I can't remember which one.
TNG: "The Royale".

Back in A Taiga somehow. Let's see if I can at least equal my 5 wins the last time I was there before I go back down to B where I belong.

Is Ricardo Montalban going to host?
When I said Alex, I meant Alex Jacob, not Alex Trebek. I don't have any idea of who will replace Alex Trebek if he retires.
I think that's more of a "Welcome to Fantasy Island" comment ...

Three. Mars is also an inner planet.

Instaget FJ. Pretty sure this was just a few days before his "peace for our time" line.

I never considered that Al and Roxie Roker might be related. Interesting.
Ditto for Jenny and Melissa McCarthy.
My mind-blown moment was learning about brothers Anthony Stewart Head and Murray Head.

For the clue that asked us to subtract a letter from an African country to get "this man who behaves badly, especially toward women," I took the last letter off the end of Mali. That clue totally describes Captain Malcolm Reynolds. They gotta give it to me. Shiny Instaget FJ, although it would have...

Little Boot = Caligula is one of those odd factoids that I didn't know I knew until I saw the clue. Don't know where the knowledge came from, but for some reason I did know it. Memory is strange.
I may or may not have learned that from the movie ...

Never heard of redlining ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I don't recall ever hearing of it in that context. The only one I'm familiar with is the automotive one (redlining an engine).

There is, but the only other one I can think of is Nobel Laureate and that makes no sense in the context of the clue.

I love how they had to state the prize as a "global positioning system", because at that time almost no one would know what a GPS was.

Re: Friday, February 7, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

If they had mentioned "first AND last name" any time to the contestants, either in the clue or as an aside, it basically turns the clue into a coin-flip, because you know that there have to be at least two authors who share the last name they're looking for. I've always been of the opinion that FJ ...

If I've encountered the word "mercenary" before, then it sure didn't stick.
It was barely 2 1/2 months ago (11/25/19):

"I have no clue what "mercenary" even means, so I'm surprised I actually got one right in that category."

You didn't, however, know what it was back in July, 2017.

I can't see Bronte alone being sufficient. Not the slightest clue on this one, Literally the only thing I know about Jane Eyre is that Charlotte Bronte wrote it. Guessed Dickens.
