Re: Reretaken Down

Lorne Michaels was FURIOUS, and I'm sure she now has a solid, protected 11:35 PM start for SNL. It's 11: 30 -- for whatever reason (probably Lorne Michaels-related), "SNL" didn't have its start time moved to 11:35 the way "The Tonight Show" did in 1991. Yeah, that was an Gulf War thing, wasn't it?

Please let Hammer do better than the contestants in IT'S A HAND! IT'S MICHIGAN! It went: $400 - Not played $800 - TS $1200 - TS $1600 - neg + TS $2000 - TS Only the $800 for me (as much pres trivia as geography) so I can't laugh too much about it. It was strange seeing the hand graphic displayed wi...

For the last two days, I'm getting timeout errors when trying to access J-archive. Has it had an unnanounced outage?

Microscope guy (Leeuwenhoek) was out for tough spelling considerations although that is the name to send to the GOATs.
That's one where you just go phonetic with Layvenhook.

Mo'Nique is an Oscar winner and like the J! champ title it has no expiration date. Charlie Chaplin was in a recent correct response. What has he done lately? Yes, but Charlie Chaplin is an enduring legend of cinema who has done tons and tons of classic films that are still aired to this day. Mo'Niq...

I'm sure I've heard of Mo'Nique, but I know I've never heard of the movie "Precious". There was a zero percent chance of me coming up with her. Cher and Madonna were the only two actresses I was going to come up with and I picked Cher.

I was considering using the Manhattan = Little Apple thing as a choice in one of my TDs.
Around here, at least, the Navy-K State game was on just before J!. Not that I didn't know it anyway, but it certainly was mentioned.

I'm supposed to know that Chicago has zip codes 60601-60827, and/or is the third most populous city in the US - for a top row clue?
Yes, you should know what city comes after NY and LA (and before Houston).

Alex was with probably with the players in not knowing the Charlie musician pictured if it was not on his answer sheet while there was audible tittering from the audience that the clue was a stumper.
I had no clue who either of the pictured people were.

Hell, you can use FOIL to multiply two-digit numbers:

34x12= (30x10)+(30x2)+(4x10)+(4x2)=300+60+40+8=408
34x12 isn't in (A+B)(C+D) format, though.
So, 34 isn't 30+4 and 12 isn't 10+2?

The J! writer that defended millibar as an accessible clue by giving the units is shaking his/her head :). I could have broke it down, but not in real time. But since "bar" was in the clue, and I saw mm (I think), it was an easy coin flip. I expected a reversal on this. I mean a millibar is just a ...
