Re: Wednesday, September 23, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Here's Robert and a Lego video: https://www.youtube.com/embed/ljhTK3N_xWc He wore a Lego bowtie on the show today. Another "genre" for Alex today for those keeping count. Dana had her glasses on for introductions and the first segment. When Alex began chats Dana had her glasses on but they were off ...

Re: TD 452 - Record Collection [Q1-Q7 revealed]

Ethan! Instead of thinking about the winners in order season by season I told myself to look for a winner after Season 10 when fewer people watched while avoiding current winners. E is for Earl seemed good enough. I kept thinking and wondered about high-scoring Scrabble winners. Switching to Vecepia...

It's done: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6827

Reshima scribbled right at the end of the 30 seconds and told Alex, "I started to write Thailand".

Re: Tuesday, September 22, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Tyler found DD3 at clue 23 with a category and two $2000 clues remaining. Dana: 23600 Tyler: 11200 Reshima: 3600 What to do? What to do? Tyler lost $4000 to have Dana in place for a lock. Tyler managed to do enough in the last 7 clues to prevent the runaway. The FJ! category had me try one precall o...

Re: Monday, September 21, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Did I miss something with allowing the Sirius XM Radio answer while not in the form of a question? After just saying "Sirius XM", she kinda mumbled, "Is it Sirius XM?" What the archive has: (Sarah: [*]. Is it [*]?) (Alex: Well, that's an unusual way of phrasing your response, but it is correct.) [T...

Re: Monday, September 21, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

For educators I would throw in the old Greek SPA guys, Booker T. Washingon, Scopes & McGuffey. With the category adding "Pioneering" then to me it was really screaming just the one name. I would have bet the farm as Dana did, off the category, as even if wrong on the precall I would expect to be a a...

Re: Monday, September 21, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

GOOD STUFF IN 2020 had me not even close on my prediction game in the earlier post. Precalling off the FJ! category went better as I took one shot and it was a direct hit. First time this season though likely not the last with a DD not uncovered. In another time line Sarah does not call for the $400...

Re: Monday, September 21, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

No, I have not seen the game yet. What I do do is use J!6 to get the categories ahead of time on my scoresheet. One category is GOOD STUFF IN 2020. My first thought was a sarcastic, "Can the writers really find five things?" The J!6 is about: Jeff Bezos donating $100M for food relief. I decided to t...

Re: 2020 Current Events Discussion Thread

The Emmys were okay to watch while always behind the live showing to allow for necessary fast forwarding. When letting the recording get ahead I managed to see both the Lakers buzzer beater by Anthony Davis and Cam Newton (now QBing the Patriots) not be Tom Brady.

Re: Learned League 86 - Aug/Sep 2020

Out of the players I track (12 out of the 15 are in an A rundle--lots of heavy hitters), five of the 15 got Q4 (Reebok) right, and seven of 15 got Q5 (Tallchief) right. I thought that was interesting since the overall get rate was 46% for Q4 and 5% for Q5. I got Tallchief right, but so did my oppon...

Re: Friday, September 18, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Playing off a couple of Reddit posts I saw yesterday: This regular guy, with no help from Sony, has the game archived and it took less than a couple of days: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6825 Doing the game reminded me of another clue that may not have gone TS with the right region ...

Re: Friday, September 18, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

It always amuses me when a contestant's name ties into the correct response. Today Joe got called on for the 1954 'ism. Franklin W. Dixon gets credit for my knowing the Viking alphabet clue. With a better mix of contestants geographically then perhaps Ali's city is not a TS. Four clues not seen toda...

Re: Learned League 86 - Aug/Sep 2020

I posted this on the LL board, but am I supposed to know what sodium carbonate is? I mean, I can do the chemistry but washing soda means absolutely nothing to me. Looking it up after the fact, I guess they made glass out of it? I spent so much time wondering if I should put sodium bicarbonate, bica...

I briefly considered Picasso, but thought it might be nebulous on his being a 20th-century artist, as he was born in 1881. Was more comfortable with Rivera.
Yesterday's 19th c. American was born in 1734.
