Re: Introduce Yourself Here

Philadelphia. On a Monday. In the late morning, I think it was (I believe I was the second group of the day). I'm not sure what it says about me that, when I've opened this topic and seen this post at the top of the page, I keep mentally inserting "with the lead pipe" in the midst of the other prep...

Re: 2013 Online Test Registration Is Open

My understanding is that there was a J! audition at TCONA1, but only one contestant was selected out of everyone who auditioned. The "rule of thumb" seems to be that ~10% of people who audition become contestants, so I would guess that TPTB selected fewer TCONA auditioners than they would have from...

100 Floors App

I downloaded a game for my Kindle called 100 Floors. Each level has a puzzle to solve. A couple struck me as very clever that could also translate here. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8211/8323551603_798f453d2c_m.jpg For the one with the calculator it's 49063=46665 above the calculator and 51782 in t...

This is week 15, so this poll will be the cutoff for the first 1/3 of the season. At the end of January I'll post a toughest FJ poll.

Re: Online test eligibility question

So, I'm wondering how I can game the system to get a crack at a second appearance? Kidding. A friend of a friend recently taped Who Wants to be a Millionaire but was informed that her episode would not be airing. So we were wondering if she'd still be eligible to take the upcoming test? Per the web...

Re: Friday, December 28, 2012 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

I had one more thought about Nichole's wager. Did Maggie or any of the crew mention the range of TOC cutoff points at the time of taping (perhaps because of a recent 3-time champ she may have seen)? Nichole could have felt she needed over 20K per win?

Re: Friday, December 28, 2012 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

As an archivist there are many positives to being on the team. Sometimes a negative comes along. In a team e-mail where the previous discussion was only about handling the upcoming online tests this was sent out: Man, I think that the massive stupidity of that FJ bet cause the board to crash .... an...

Re: Thursday, December 20, 2012 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

I'm looking for the literary category from this day's show, does anyone have a rundown? It was 'Authors' Former Employers' or something to that effect. Can't find the complete game recap on the J! Archive. Thanks! AUTHORS' FORMER JOBS $200: This "Catcher in the Rye" author wasn't always so reclusiv...

Re: Thursday, December 27, 2012 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

A fun game to watch and congrats for Nichole for making up the distance to win. Had fun on the writers' category but yelled twice at the TV when no one could get Sir Walter Scott or Earl Stanley Gardner (the horror, especially for me...) Got most of the anagrammed American locations, and could *not...

Re: Wednesday, December 26, 2012 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Kris had 3 DDs to play with wagers of 800, 600 and 2900. Naturally his sole get was the $600. I like seeing situational play and feel over 1000 or 2000 no matter what is happening. At home I had no chance on Hemingway's Feast and didn't wager since I didn't get the clue above. For The Arts I went wi...

I've always heard she was a five-time champ during the '85-'86 season, including the detail that she helped keep Lionel Goldbart to four wins. rmfromfla posted on the old board that she appeared in March of 1986. I posted the Eisenberg pages more for Barbara Lowe's story coming up again and again t...

Breadfruit guessed for strawberries in The Caine Mutiny was a great miss to make me howl at home. This clip from the movie (near the end so spoil at your own peril) has a classic movie line (or at least a favorite at mine) at 4:40 finishing up shortly after. In the whole clip play spot the famous TV...

I gave Gina little chance when I spotted the design on the stem of her glasses. Minus 2800? Ouch. Mike & Kris sent her to Davy Jones' Locker. Prop bet kept me from running Gamble as only exotic was coming to me even though I'm familiar with the term and those types of wagers. Dolly for $2000? Hammer...

I didn't get you you little Thursday FJ clue and your little dog too. Your comment is "Terrier" than your guess, you're saying? (There's a Wizard of Oz pun there, who sees it?)
